Tim Daly's series "The Fugitive" in reruns - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Heyyy!
I just found out from this site: http://www.dr-richard-kimble.com/news.shtml that reruns of Tim Daly's series "The Fugitive" is being shown on the HDNet channel... now I think you can get this channel if you have HDTV.... I'm not quite sure yet, but I'm going to check when I get home, since I have HDTV. I'm not sure if you can get this channel though if you don't have HDTV. But I thought I'd let you guys know, in case any of you can get this channel. According to their schedule on the HDNet website, the 3rd episode of the series is being shown twice this week on this channel. Thursday September 5th at 10 PM Eastern, 7 PM Pacific, and then on Friday night September 5th at 1 AM Eastern, 10 PM Pacific.
Well, I just thought I'd let you guys know. I've never seen the show before, but I want to check it out, since Tim is in it.

That's kind of weird, because the series never really tied up it's story line (although we all know how it's SUPPOSED to end from earlier versions of the story)....

No thanks, I think that I'll pass on those "Fugitive" reruns....while I like Tim as an actor, I had a tough enough time staying awake the FIRST time I saw those episodes!

I enjoyed Tim Dalys Fugitive series but the last episode left a bad taste in my mouth.

I have a very-distant tie-in with Tim Daly.....

There's an episode of "The Fugitive" where a priest gives sanctuary to Tim's Richard Kimball character, and doesn't tell the police that Kimball is hiding in the church....

That priest was played by Frank Buxton, an actor and author who is also an old radio show and classic film buff, and a friend of mine (we share the same love for that type of vintage entertainment).

A few years ago we had a nice talk at the Syracuse Cinefest film convention before that "Fugitive" episode first aired, and he told me about it and the upcoming air date.

While I thought that it was cool that a friend of mine was going to be acting on a network TV show, if I had been the "Wings" fan THEN that I am NOW, I REALLY would have been impressed!

I have all 22 episodes of "The Fugitive" on tape. And watching the finale, knowing the show was cancelled got me very upset. I mean upset. I'm just glad that the people behind the show didn't see the end coming and decide to give it a twisted ending, where Kimble really did kill his wife. Or where he gets captured and given the death penalty. Pilotguy, you know I have that twisted imagination. (Remember my Lowell story?)

Or what if they ended "The Fugitive" the way that "Newhart" ended?
Kimball is captured and about to be executed for the murder of his wife....suddenly he wakes up in bed with the lights off and someone sleeping next to him....He says, "Honey? Honey? Are you asleep?"...and the woman next to him turns on the light...and it's Crystal Bernard as Helen! She asks, "Joe, what's wrong?" and he says, "I just had the craziest dream....", and ....oh well, you know the rest!

yeah, well I heard bad things about the show, but I also heard really good things about it, So I figure that I'll at least check it out.

It's a good show, I just didn't like the way it ended.

OK, that brings up a good point...Just how DID this series end?

I watched episodes off and on during it's run, but I never caught the last episode...which apparently wasn't an "official" last episode....CBS just pulled the plug on the show at the end of the season without wrapping up the story line....

So how DID Tim's version of "The Fugitive" end?

Some corrupt FBI agent shot Gerard, and then trapped Kimble and the one armed man who were together. Kimble had caught the one armed man and was bringing him in. The fbi man pointed his gun at Kimble and the one armed man then he shot the gun but nobody knows who he shot. Nobody knows if Gerald is dead. A very frustrating ending.

Oh yeah, that sounds about right for CBS....They ended another Friday night drama hour just as stupidly.

Anyone remember "Now and Again"? The one where the U.S. Government secretly resurrected a dead guy (played by John Goodman) as a "Bionic Man"-type robot (played by "Without A Trace"'s Eric Close)?
That series was an action drama, but it was a fun way to "park your brain" and relax on a Friday night...but CBS pulled the plug on THAT show the same way as "The Fugitive"....a cliffhanger ending at the end of the season, and then no return for the show in the fall.....

Hmmm....I wonder if those CBS programmers get their basic training at Nickleodeon?

I watched that show 3 or 4 times, but I couldn't really get into it.

I love the movie version of The Fugitive, but I found the TV version so boring. I'm not much of a drama person in the first place (ER is one of the very few exceptions) and I just thought the show was so bad and corny, that I found myself laughing (and not all of it had to do with "Joe Hackett" being on it). It's my least favorite show starring a former Wings cast member, unless Once & Again counts.
