I think the show would have still been sucessful, but we wouldn't have some great episodes that are centered around those three charecters. Cliff is such a great charecter... I couldn't imagine Cheers without him. Frasier and Lilith are great, too.

I think all the characters worked fine. I wouldn't change anything.
If Frasier wasn't on Cheers, then we wouldn't have Frasier the tv show!

That's a good question. I don't really know how well Cheers could've done without the quick wit of Frasier or the hilarious banter between Norm and Cliff. They were so important to the overall show.

I don't really know either......but it's funny because those specific characters are the three that I like the least...like I still love them but they aren't first in line.....I think it would have survived......maybe it wouldn't have been as funny but then again the first season was hilarious so Yes I think Cheers would have been fine.

Well if Kelsey Grammer never joined the cast Shelley Long probably would have stayed longer because that was one of the things that "drove her over the edge" so to speak. Without Fraiser of course there would be no Lilith unless she got together with Sam, which in my opinion would have been a hilarious storyline. The show would have lasted without Kelsey and Bebe just not as long. As for John I don' think it would have. cliff added so much comedy to the show. I mean if all else fails, pick on the mail man! lol but seriously cliff is almost as "cheersy" as Norm is. lol that's a new word "cheersy"

Cliff is probably one of my favorite parts of Cheers. Whenever there's an episode that maybe I've seen one too many times, or doesnt pack the same punch as other episodes, you can always count of Norm or Cliff to somehow pull the episode together with their crazy antics. I think Frasier was pretty crucial to the gang too. a.) to provide complications with the sam/diane romance, b.) to give the barflys a "steady man" to play jokes on, etc, c.) watching his deterioration over the years is great (he starts out as this "serious" psychologist, and in the last seasons like to complain about his patients/job/etc, and d.) to carry the show into a successful spin-off (theres more, thats all I can think of tight now) I can only think of a few times were Lilith really "bettered" Cheers, but I know there are a lot of Lilith fans around, and I know all the reasons why people liked Lilith...I just didnt.

I agree completely.

Both Frasier and Cliff are crucial to the Cheers gang. Lilith (one of my FAVORITE characters), is not as crucial to the storylines, making her less important, but still VERY funny.

I think the show could have lasted without Lilith, maybe somes laughs and some episodes would be lost, but the show would still last.

But I think it wouldnt last as long if Cliff and Frasier werent there. And thank God they were!

But what I really wonder is if the show would last without Woody. Because Woody Harrelson had a successful film career during the series run, which may have helped boost ratings.

Cheers without Lilith - Yes, not as funny, but Yes.

Cheers without Frasier/Cliff - No.

Cheers without Woody - hmm.... ??
