Yes, tonight NICK is showing "Looking For Love In All The Wrong Places", which is the Valentine's Day episode that gives us the first appearance of Tony Shaloub as Antonio Scarpacci....and don't forget, he's a waiter in this one (and boy, is he HILARIOUS!).

Throughout the series' run, "Wings" always seemed to make a big deal out of Valentine's Day, with special "Valentines" episodes devoted to love, relationships and the holiday....kind of like how "Roseanne" used to make a big deal out of Halloween!

this is one of my all time favorite episodes. I am glad something clicked and they brought Tony back as a regular so we could enjoy him.

I laugh at Antonio every time I see this episode! The way he treats his cousin Giacomo!! And Helen hiding her face because she's embarrassed. The guy who plays Giacomo(believe it or not, I don't know his real name), he was the same guy who played "Cookieman" on those Snackwells cookies commercials a few years ago. So when we saw him on this ep, We're like 'Hey, it's Cookieman!'. Those women were always bugging him for cookies. Looking forward to this ep, though!

Cousin Giacomo was Cookie Man? Wow! I didn't know that.

Antonio did make a great addition to the show. I'm glad he stayed.

Did they ever explain how he went from being a waiter to a cab driver and made friends with the other characters?

yeah! I like this episode. I remember the first time I saw this one, and I was surprised to see Antonio working as a waiter in the restauant. (because I knew that later on he was a regular on the show, and a cab driver- not a waiter). I was trying to figure out if it was Antonio and that was his first appearance on the show, or if they did what I've seen on a couple of other sitcoms- used an actor early on in the series for a minor role, and then a couple of seasons later, brought that actor back to play a different, regular character on the series.
And I don't think I figured it out until I came here and someone mentioned that, because I don't think he was ever actually called by his name in this episode.
Then I remember a few seasons later, Antonio mentions the restaraunt that he used to work at went out of business or something, and that's how he became a cabbie....

Great episode, but what was up with that blue bar advertising Cheers. I've gotten used to the little white dot one since it only takes up the bottom left of the screen but this one scrolled the entire bottom. This is annoying especially since Cheers just had the white dot one. Nick's clipping Wings yet again.

You know one thing that I like about this episode?
I like that Joe was the romantic one in the situation in thinking that his and Helen's "special place" was where they were when they first kissed.
can I say, "aawwww!!!" ?

I know....and everyone kept trying to make him feel like a PIG because of it....I just didn't get that!

I liked Joe's comment: "MY 'special place' is where we kissed....HER 'special place' is where she ATE!"

And let's not forget Roy's hilarious "secret grilling" of his blind date over dinner....I loved how he tried to sneak in the questions as part of the pleasant dating "small talk":

"Oh yes, Glauster is BEAUTIFUL in the summer....so does insanity run in your family?"

Well, I didn't feel like everyone was trying to make Joe feel like a pig because of that.. I just felt like they were sort of implying that Helen was the one who was right... but how is eating dinner on their first date more special than their first romantic kiss?

That's a MAJOR thing that I don't like about the later "Wings" episodes....

In the early episodes, Joe usually WAS more romantic than Helen...even right up to his marriage proposal....

Remember how Joe was in the kitchen making Helen heart-shaped pancakes and planning for their future after they had spent the night together? And remember how Helen got dressed and was dashing out the door to meet Davis Lynch as if nothing had happened?

However, AFTER the wedding, Joe lost every BIT of romance that he had earlier....He celebrated holidays and anniversaries with his wife as cheaply as possible...if he remembered to celebrate them at ALL! This was a very unflattering characteristic of the "later" Joe, and completely different from his earlier behavior.

hmm.. i actually never conciously noticed that after they got married Joe became a lot less romantic.. but now that you say that, he did! I always did notice in earlier seasons that he was the more romantic one. That's one of the reasons why I like Joe so much. but yeah, I think that's sort of what changed about him in the last 2 seasons of the show...

I think Joe still had a romantic heart, he just didn't express it quite as much once he went from courting to being married....I know some married men are good at keeping active with the samll things they did in the beginning of a relationship, but some don't, and that is kind of true to life, which again, I think is great because Wings kept the characters real.....how many fathers/husbands truly acted like Bill Cosby? Wings was more real in my opinion.

Joe made the ultimate sacrafice (and one from the heart I think) for Helen when he left his business and moved to Vienna with her so she could pursue her Cello dreams......hope nick runs that final episode some day.

Antonio slapping his cousin in the face not once but twice was the funniest thing in the episode. Do we get to see Giacomo again or was it a one time appearance?

No, that was a one-time appearance, which is unfortunate....Giacomo made a great "sidekick" for Antonio, and they could have made a funny occassional team while Antonio was working at the airport as a cabbie.

I love that "Looking For Love...." episode. You COULD say that Tony Shalhoub "stole the show" in that episode, although there was STILL plenty of funny stuff for the regulars to do!

(I LOVE Roy's "casual grilling" of his date during dinner....That was one of David Schramm's funniest "Wings" bits EVER!)

Plus, let's not forget the priceless image of Lowell's toothy grin with his mouth all covered with chocolate!

Yes, a GREAT episode!
