Default What is your first memory

what is your first memory? my first memory is my mom and dad and me on the island and my mom saying "see this island. this is home. home sweet home."

then my dad said "you under stand son. your momma just told ya that this island is your home. home sweet home. sweet home island. sweet island home."

i said "where will i school?"

dad said "we will teach you."

i asked if i could have a pet and my dad said "i have a monkey for you. what will you call him?"

i said "Meiko Travattio." as i took the monkey.

dad said "good. an intelligent name."

"for an intelligent monkey." my momma said.

"this calls for a toast." my dad said.

"no, honey." my momma protested.

dad then took a carton of beer out of the cooler and took them out and drank them one after the other.

"do not ever become like me, son." my dad had told me. "do not ever become a drunken bastard like your old man."

"why not dad?" i asked. "i look up to you."

"because a carton a day brings many ulcers once you turn gray."
he had said.

i guess i betrayed his trust. what are your first memories?

Lightbulb First memories

Hearing "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" by the Beatles being played repeatedly on the radio. This was the early/mid-60's.

Now this is really vague, but it's my earliest memory. I'm just a few years old - perhaps about 2. I'm being given a bath by some woman my parents hired to mind me when they were out. My parents are going out for the evening, and I see them walk by the bathroom all dressed up and tell the person something about when they'll be home. That's it.

I forget my first memory... I have a bunch and dont remember which happened first. I think my first is actually when I had a dream that I threw up under my babysitters sink. Or I was about 3 and I picked up my babysitters fake dog poop. Or the time me and her baked cookies. I remember running back and forth down the sidewalk thing @ JimmyLees ice creme when I used to ride on the back of my Dads bike.

My childhood memories were mostly traumatizing, so I don't like to talk about them. But I do remember this one time we were going to Maryland, and my brother and sister told me to shove a tic tac up my nose, so I did.

Cool

This was when I was 2 in 1987. I had my tonsils taken out, and I remember the morning of my surgery REALLY vividly. I'd been battling a really bad sore throat. My parents got me out of bed, got me dressed, and brought me to the dining room to see if they could get me to eat a little something before they took me to the hospital. They sat me down in my chair, took out the plastic yellow bowl that I used as a really young girl, poured some Cheerios (my bowl was a Cheerios bowl with white words outlined in black) and some milk. I tried eating my Cheerios, but couldn't. I kept grabbing my throat and moaning because it hurt so much.

That was 16 years ago, and I don't even remember what it was like to have tonsils.

Watching Cheers w/ my dad.

My mother didnt think it was "appropriate" (i was 2 or 3...) but whenever she'd go out, my dad and I would watch it. He thought she'd never know, but thats my first memory...

busted.

My first memory was probably of nursery school in the early 70's, We took a field trip to the fire station and everyone got one of those flimsy plastic fire helmets.

My first is from when I was about 2. It had snowed outside and my mom got me all dressed to go out with my sisters. But when she took me out I got scared, I guess I thought I was going to fall through the snow or something and she took me back inside.

sometimes I walk into some stores or rooms and the smell of my old reception classroom comes back- it's like the smell of the watercolour paint blocks you had to add water to, along with glue and plasticine.

I know this is weird, but I remember laying in my crib and hearing the "Cheers" theme playing on TV. I'm dead serious too.
