Default Garrett Gone

Brad Garrett will now miss at least the first two episodes of "Everybody Loves Raymond."

For the second consecutive week, Garrett did not show up for work on the popular sitcom because he's unhappy with his salary of $150,000 per episde.

Garrett's paycheck is considerably smaller than everyone else's on the CBS series, especially when compared to show star Ray Romano, who pulls in $1.8 million an episode.

Garrett, who plays Romano's brother on the show, was written out of the first episode when he was a no-show for production. Fellow supporting actors Patricia Heaton, Doris Roberts and Peter Boyle also held out, but returned to work. Garrett's holdout comes as CBS has given Roberts, Heaton and Boyle a piece of the rerun revenues from the sale of the show to local stations and cable.

I don't know why he's so upset over making only $150,000 dollars a week. He makes a lot more in one week than a huge majority of us make in one year. There are starving children in the streets and these celebrities sit in their luxury mansions and whine that they need more money. It makes me sick!

Yes i totally agree also, BUT, why should he be the only one not to share in the hundreds of millions the producers make in the syndication market. While i agree his Emmy win might have gone to his head, he's probably just trying to get his share like all the others on the show.

I also read about this and it reminded me of when Suzanne Somers decided she wanted more money on Threes Company. Hope Brad doesn't end up getting fired. Apparently the actors who play Deborah, Marie, and Frank, got some of their demands and came back this week. The poor actress who plays Amy, may be out of a job too.

She might still get to be in some episodes without Robert. Her husband is the executive producer and creator of the show. It could probably be worked out for her to still be in it possibly. Who knows though...

I think Brad only just got his first Emmy last year! And that woman who plays his girlfriend is the executive producer's wife, i wondered how a blah role like that kept going, thanks for the explanation.

They need to cough-up the money. He is a major character in this show and without him, there would be a void. I mean how much longer can we listen to the Debra/Marie thing? The writers have a chance to explore new territory with the new marriage and the new nut cases that came with it.

Actually, I think he may be back. There's another thread about this that I didn't see until I posted my response.

Thank you! I agree. Really, be thankful for your job....I think Brad Garrett is great and very talented, but that's just ridiculous.

I personally don't care how much he makes. I look at it this way...Say I make $5 a day and the people who do the same thing on my team at work make $10 a day. Of course I wouldn't be happy, and the cast is a team. In my opinion each one contributes a necessary part to the show, and now with Robert getting married, he even contributes more because I feel the show has gotten somewhat stale with the Marie/Debra thing.

With the arrival of Amy and her nutty family comes the opportunity for the writers to go in a new direction and hopefully freshen the show a bit and possibly carry it into extra seasons which may not have been possible had Robert not married. So in that respect, he probably deserves more. Also, most of the stars have one shot in their lives to have a "hit" show and then they fade into the woodwork. I say go for it...get as much as you can because it may be the last gig you have. Why should the networks get it all? And yes I know Ray gets a large portion, and he should, because without him, I am not sure the show could carry on. And without Robert and Ray, the show would be in serious trouble.

While this is a lot of money, the taxes he (and all of them) pays is stagering. I don't begrudge him a bit. And for the starving children...well that's a poor comparison, IMO. A lot of these people give to many charities, so how can you condem them? If you want everything equal, move to Cuba. This country doesn't operate that way. This is a country of equal opportunity for all...you just have to get off your butt and make it happen instead of complaining that someone might make a lot more money than you do!
