Default "Love Is Like Pulling Teeth"

Last night was the first time that I had seen this one, and it was a good episode for Tim Daly (of course poor Crystal didn't have many good lines!)

I've mentioned before how Tim could go for several straight episodes merely playing "straight man" for the other characters....but every so often an episode comes along that allows Tim to really SHINE as a super-funny comedic actor, and THIS episode was definitely one of those episodes!

There was some great physical comedy with Joe trying to quietly sneak out of Helen's room....and how about when Joe was finally actually to understand Helen's packed-mouth mumblings? He went to get the magazine that Helen wanted, and started to have an actual conversation with her! He asked her which issue of the magazine she wanted, she answered him with mumbling and he UNDERSTOOD her! THEN he had this proud smile on his face and said, "Hey, I'm getting pretty GOOD at this!".

Yes, definitely a great "Joe" episode!

I love this episode too. Joe was great. I wish I had him taking care of me when I had my wisdom teeth out. (Of course, I'd prefer Luka from ER! )

I do agree with you, Krista....as an overall "Wings" episode, it wasn't a true "classic"...but it WAS great as a comedy showcase for Joe.

I've found that sometimes there are "Wings" episodes that aren't that great as a whole, or as an "ensemble" episode, but they're good for spotlighting a certain character at his or her best.

I've never had my wisdom teeth out. *knock on wood* It seems like dentists are too eager to take everyone's wisdom teeth out!! I won't let them take mine- I love my wisdom teeth!

Congratulations on making it to the 600 club! lol

And don't you worry, some day those wisdom teeth will have to come out....the sooner the better actually, I've heard the older you are the more pain involved. Not that I'm trying to scrare ya.

Back to the episode, this is probably more of a guy thing, because I always liked this episode, partially because I related to the Joe perdiciment.....having a girlfriend, but then having things going on with your buds and getting razzed and teased about being whipped etc. Sometimes friends can be brutal....just like they were to poor Joe. Plus I liked the episode because I thought it was funny when Helen tried to talk.....and what a DREAM to do that to your girlfriend and then have her thanking you afterwards.....haha, I loved that ending when Joe said it felt great.

Yes, her high-pitched mumbling was certainly nerve-grating, but it was also funny at the same time....sort of like Joe's nerdy-sounding nasal voice when he had that broken nose!

I had my wisdom teeth pulled out a couple years ago. Since I coulnd't eat solid foods right away, I was craving for Wendy's Chicken Nuggets. My face was swollen like Helen's also.

As for the episode, It's alright the first time around. I just don't find myself wanting to watch it alot.

"Love Is Like Pulling Teeth" is one of my all-time faves. Lots of funny moments... especially when Joe is taking care of Helen and also trying to sneak out to watch the game with the guys.

I've never had my wisdom teeth out, either, Krista, but I did have a bit of dental work done 6 months ago and opted for a procedure called sedation dentistry. I was given a few pills and while you're knocked out, they keep checking your vitals. Well, I hardly remember anything from that whole day. My sister picked me up after they were done(I don't remember that), drove me home and she said I sprinted into the house(don't remember that!). She was supposed to stay with me for the next 24hrs but had something going on that night that she couldn't get out of, so she left me alone. I was dead asleep anyway, so I wouldn't have known if she were gone. I didn't wake up until 11:30 that night. Later she said, "just as long as I didn't find you sleeping on the neighbor's porch curled up next to their Irish Setter." Seriously. And sad!! We do that all the time, always relating real life things to things that happen on TV shows.

I've seen this episode before and I like it. I liked when Joe wanted Helen to talk like Don Corleone, and she said 'something' to him, as if cussing at him.
Can you imagine actually seeing Meriweather's eyes when he did his eye thing? I know it was described what he does but it's another one of those things that's best left to the imagination, like that device Roy uses to get him to sleep!

lol that's funny that your sister told you, "just as long as I didn't find you sleeping on the neighbor's porch curled up next to their Irish Setter." aftere you had your dental work done. lol!

and yeah- I wish they had shown Meriweather's "eye thing". lol! That bugged me that they never even showed his face, and he was always hiding somewhere when they'd show the whole group of guys watching the game. That bugs the heck out of me when they won't show someone's face on TV. This is going to sound really bizarre, but when I was little, I used to watch the cartoon "Muppet Babies" all the time, and I used to get SOOOOOOOOO mad that they would only show Nanny from the knees down. hahahaha. nice green and white striped tights!
oh, and on Seinfeld, don't they always refuse to show George's boss's face? That's annoying. and oh yeah, I used to get so mad at "Inspector Gadget" when they wouldn't show Dr. Claw from the front. I wanted to see what the man looked like! hahaha.
ok, i went off on a tangent there....
But yeah, they wouldn't even show Meriweather's face! That's obnoxious.
