If a final farewell episode of Hogan's Heroes had been produced, how should it end? What do you think would make a perfect happy ending on this show for Hogan and his men, not to mention Klink and Schulz?

I think the war should have ended and Klink and his men should have been captured and Hogan could have let Klink know who was really in charge of that camp. As they are being led away, Schultz could say " I know nothing".

The camp needed liberated. Have Hogan and his men perform one last daring mission, then have the war end. All the guys say their (tearful) goodbyes to each other, last scene is similar to the movie King Rat, a film I'm sure no one's seen. The last scene is of trucks driving men away...slow pullback of the camera to show the whole camp.

THere were several episodes that could have given a hint what a final show would have included. There was one where Hogan convinced Klink and Hockstetter that the war was over. Klink learned that Schultz was owner of the Schottze Toy Company. Klink immediately offered Schultz a cigar. When Hockstetter reached for a cigar Klink slammed the lid closed.
It has been so long since I have seen this one but there was an episode where a visiting officer was talking about opening a company in the new German colony, the Unided States. Klink wanted to work for him if he opened an office in Palm Springs. I can't remember what the plot of this episode was.

There was an episode where they all were making plans on meeting for a reunion after the was. I think the episode involved LeBeau leaving the group to join a French resistance group. I think the plan was to meet in London exactly 5 years after the was. The final episode could have been this meeting 5 years later.

At the very least, I'd be curious about how the Allies would deal with Klink after the war. The Allies would want to keep the activities of the POWs in Stalag 13 a secret (even today, 60 years later, there are still a lot of things about WWII which are classified). Meanwhile, the ex-commandant of Stalag 13, a place from which nobody ever escaped, is out and about, living his life ... and anyone who talks to him for a few minutes (including some American journalists) can tell that he's an idiot. And yet nobody ever escaped from that place?! Far too many questions are being asked, questions which the Allies would prefer *not* be asked ... I'm sure there's a good comic plot in there somewhere.

PS to dawsonsgirl -- I've seen "King Rat". Terrific movie, but the book is even better.
