In addition to the work being more serious, as you say, the other main difference between high school and college is that there's no more immature behavior. In hs, if you act immature, you might get sent to the principal's office, but in college, you'll be out of the course permanently. Everybody knows that, though, so it never happens.

Yep, in college, you're expected to break away from some of those traditions that you used to do in grade school. Some examples:
1. (grade school) Your parents woke up for school in the mornings sometimes. (college) Your alarm clock or your roomate will have to wake you up in the mornings......but rely on the alarm clock in most cases. 2. (grade school) You got away with spelling, grammatical, and punctuation errors in English. (college) You will be in a world of trouble with those mistakes. 3. (grade school) You were scheduled with the classes each year or semester everyday at a particular period. Example: U.S. History - 4th period (college) You will be scheduled with classes on certain days at the same time. Example: English Composition 101 - Wednesdays and Fridays from 7 am-9 am The list goes on and on......but I really do hope you have a great time in college. Good luck.

ive never actually been 2 concerned with being prepared for college, because people who come back and visit the HS say that my school has prepared them really well and that we shouldnt worry, I am nervous though bout the whole college experience and the fact I have no idea what I want to do with my life hahah (in the end I wanna be loaded...lol or well off, I dont want to worry about money) but I want to make a difference in someones life, like I would love to be a peditrican, except sciences are generally my worsts classes so I dont know how well that will work out, hmm maybe I should just stick to business or be a lawyer like my daddy...

I am so glad I chose not to go to a college. It's just not for me. I prefer going to a school that will focus on just my interest.
Anyways, good luck Amanda!

I beg to differ.
![]() College is like the greatest experience ever. It's only my third day on campus, but I'm having so much fun that it's unbelievable. The worst thing, I thought, was meeting my roommate and trying to get along with him. I was wrong. The guy I'm rooming with is great. We almost have the same taste in music, he's not the typical jock, popular, pretty boy, etc. Just a regular, average guy. I'm so lucky cause we get along great. One of my friends, however, is so nervous. Her roommate isn't moving in til tomorrow, but she's so scared. I helped her rearrange her room today (We ditched orientation and it took us hours) and shes afraid her roommates not going to like it. I think she will. Mine did after I rearranged it. Anyway, I don't have a PC. I'm in the lounge of my dorm, and I was checking out email, and just had to give you guys an update. Even though is does ruin my perfect 12345 posts. Oh well. My perfect image of college is probably going to change next week, when I start classes. I already feel a whole in my pocket. $309 for 6 lousy books. ![]() ![]() But I get to sell them at the end of the year, so I get something later on. Anyway, I've gotta go. I'll try to stop in once in a while when I have the time. After classes start though, it's going to be a loooooooooong while. Ciao.

Tomorrow I go to my junior college and get my books, take a walk around campus, and other stuff. I start on the 26th and for the first semester I'll be going to college on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I get to take English, Math, and a Math Support Class.

I missed the deadline to sign up for classes for this semester. I'm scared to death to go though, since I hate interaction at any kind of "school" it's just not my thing. Yes, I'm an outcast, but proud of it. I don't know what I would sign up for because I don't know what exactly I want my life to be so why go for classes that in the end may not even be what I want to do. I guess I'm just stalling until I'm forced to do something with my life.Good luck to those who are going though hope it turns out better than you expect it to. |

Good luck Amanda. You'll do fine. You're a smart cookie. It will just take a while to adjust. Change is often scary, but it's what helps us grow and mature.
Welcome to the wonderful *cough* world of adulthood where you actually have to be responsible all the time. Best of luck.

Good Luck! Once you get used to it, it should be a bit easier. And there's always the weekends to do a little relaxing.
