Great pictures! I'm not a fish person, but your fish are beautiful. It looks like they are well taken care of. Not like the poor fish at the auto shop where I take my truck. The aquarium was so cloudy and I couldn't see anything except a fish towards the top. I complained about it, so next time I go in I'll see if anything was done.

Was it a goldfish? They produce a massive amount of waste.
People often keep them in tanks that are too small - and goldfish are so dirty, you'd have to take out and replace a little water everyday and have a really, REALLY strong filter.

When I was at walmart a woman was buying a goldfish for her kid and the boy who dipped it out told her that it produced its own oxygen and could live in a bowl. I pulled the woman aside and told her if she kept the goldfish in a bowl, he would die in about a week, even if she did a complete water change everyday. She said she didnt care. I wanted to pound on her some, but she wasnt going to change her mind. I should have told her how violently it would go and that it would probably take
more than a day. Those poor little .30 cent goldfish can live more than 20 years when taken care of properly! They totally rule.
Of course, they're really aggressive they'll probably be involved in a death match with someone. I didnt know that when i was little and I had 2 big goldfish (bigger than a betta) and a betta in a 10 gallon tank (much too small for probably even one golfish) and they lived together for over a month, but they kept trying to fight and the betta took 'em down one by one. <G>

When you go back to that place, if the tank isnt cleaned, see if the filter is running. If the fish are sick, they have to turn off the filter to medicate them most of the time, and the medicine often makes the water really cloudy. If it's not that, and they're just be lazy, pop 'em one in the head.

No, it was a pretty good size black fish, I know there was more fish in the aquarium, but the water was so murky you couldn't see anything. And these guys that work there don't look like they really care one way or the other about the fish.

Sounds like a Black Moor fish. Those totally rock, but all fishies do.

Doesnt anyone else keep fishies? Ive heard that since Finding Nemo came out, aquariums have soared in popularity. Fishiekeeping has become a lot easier in the past decade, since somebody invented that stuff that take the chlorine out of the water. That was probably the number #1 everyones fish died when they we little kids. This stuff takes the chlorine out instantly. Rules - but then again, everything does.

It just occured to me that I need a fish to name Wojo. Cant wait for that big fish tank. Im going to get a raphael (striped) catfish, and name him Captain Twisty Swirl (they remind me one those twisty ice cream cones - the stripes) and then i will need a special fishie to name Wojo. A great big happy one that RULES. Hmmm.
Might have to move this to the barney miller board -- what breed of fish would you name Wojo?

I don't know too much about fishes, but the swordtail described on your site sort of fits Wojo. You know, mental and a loner...

Ive scoured the internet looking for fish size leashes.

Actually a pleco would be a good wojo, they have larger, less flexible bodies. He likes to be mistaken for driftwood, but I'm wise to his game.

Ive crusied all over the net looking at aquarium sites because of all the pictures - lots of fun. Planetcatfish.com has a cat-e-log with pics of the different kinds of catfish -- ive got to stay away, im going to need a lake if i keep wanting more catfish.

I'll tell them you said so, but their little heads are swelled enough.
My friend has a 250 gallon tank with turtles in it, and she gave me the rest of her can of krill / shrimp to feed the fishies. Their going nuts, it's hilarious. The betta could barely fit the piece in his mouth, so he latched on to it and swam to hide, with all the tinier fish hot on his tail. Wish I still had that camera! They're cracking me up.
