Default Question RE "Freddy Vs. Jason"

For those who have seen the film, how is it? Is it scary? I'm asking because my coworkers asked me whether if I wanted to see the movie with them on Friday, and I'm hesistant to say yes. I'd really like to see a movie with them--- but an R-rated horror one? I'm easily freaked out for one, and I have serious trouble sitting through horror films.

Can someone please provide me with some background information RE this film? I've read the "story" section under the official site, but I'm still utterly confuzzled.
Who are Freddy and Jason, LOL?

Freddy is from the Nightmare On Elm St. series, which began on 1984. This is Freddy's 8th film. 1428 Elm is where Nancy lived in the first movie. Nancy was the teenager who somewhat figured out how to beat him.

I can't tell you much about Jason except that this is his tenth film, and he's a machete-carrying deformed weirdo who drowned at a camp when he was 11.

There's a few "bad guy popping out of nowhere" things that make you jump a bit, and a few gross things, but no, nothing really scary.

Go see it. You won't regret it!

Thanks for the reviews.

It sounds good, despite it's poor ratings on MSN.com, LOL. I think I'll go and see it. Plus, how often do I get to see an R-rated movie, anyhow?

I'm easily spooked too- but only for a little while- it's not like I scream during the movie (but I did kinda during Signs) but after I'm kinda creeped for about 2 hours- yet somehow I'm getting addicted to horror. I haven't seen the movie yet either.

What do you mean by how do your get into an R-rated movie? Just be the right age, or look the right age I guess.
That worries me about being the right age too- I'll be 15 in October and I look younger- most of my friends just buy videos that are 15 rated though they aren't 15 without a problem, I can't. It doesn't bother me- but once I am 15 I'd like to practise those rights of buying a 15 movie. That's why I'm thinking of sending away for an ID card.

It's a good thing you don't scream 'cause I do, LOL. I also jump from one end of the seat to another esp. during "The Ring."

RE the R-rated movie thing...what I meant was... my coworkers are all over the age of 17 so they can easily buy my r-rated ticket with no worries. Generally I'm not able to see R-rated movies because I have no one older accompanying me.

The movie theater bitch wouldn't let us in, cuz we're just a tad under 17. My friend and I turn 17 in October, and we told her that. But she's all like, "you have to have your mom or dad come down here and buy them for you or come see the movie with you." Well, it was about 20 minutes before the show and neither my parents nor my friend's were home anyway, so we turned and went outside. Stacie's all freaking out, like, "What're we gonna do?" I however, turn around walk up to the first guy I see and go "What movie are ya seein'?" He tells me he's seeing FVJ, so I'm like "wanna buy our tickets for us? We're just 2 months underage." He's like "sure," and goes and does it. What an awesome guy.

Stacie and I walk in and hand the ticket-tearer guy our tickets about 4 or 5 minutes after that girl turned us away. The girl's expression was PRICELESS! But there was nothing she could do about it. After all, we HAD the tickets in our possession. And the fact that she was swamped with people at the moment helped.

It was such an intersting event.
