Default Can someone tell me why I don't like the first season?

For some reason I don't like season one but can't figure out why. Can someone help me and offer some reasons why?

The first season had a lot of references to the stand-up bits I know. Example, how his parents were so happy to give their kids money but wouldn't give him any when he was little without getting their life story first, or the quote "I brought you into this world, and I'll take you out." So I personally liked it.

Yeah I do but there are some who want to start fights for no reason. The purpose of this thread was to see was there another person who didn't like the first season and if they didn't, maybe their reasons would make sense. I just can't put my finger on what about that season that I don't like.

the only thing that bothers me about the first season is that Clair says, Cliff how come we have 4 children, and Cliff says because we did not want 5, and then out of nowhere comes Saundra.

Then specify that...instead of asking people why YOU don't like the first season. I actually like the first couple of seasons, then the show just got worse and worse...In my opinion.

Yea, alot of the quotes are from Bill Cosbys stand up act 'Bill Cosby: Himself'. Thats why i liked the first season. Maybe you didn't like the characters cuz they were less evolved than the rest of the series?

I liked the first season the best. The show got too preachy by the last season.

I can't figure out why you wouldn't like season 1. But I will say this, season 1 seems different from the other seasons.

I will say, season 1 is my favorite, and really the only season I enjoy as a whole. Hmm, reasons why I like it maybe are reasons why you don't. I dunno! LOL. Let's see... I know you like Cockroach and he wasn't in even one episode of season 1, was he? (I liked him too, so his absence in season 1 isn't why I like the season.)
Denise is A LOT different in season 1. Vanessa is different probably because she's younger and didn't quite develop the weirdness yet. Elvin isn't around either and, maybe you miss seeing him. Aside from characters, the whole atmosphere was just different. Like the others mentioned, the use of "stand up" material had to have played a part in that.
