Default Fallbrook Ep

I was wondering about something in the Fallbrook ep. There is a scene where Beaver goes up to his room and Wally is rearranging the furniture. When Beaver asks what he is doing Wally says that he wants to see what the room will look like without Beavers bed in there because the following year Beaver was planning to go away to boarding school. Wally is talking about how he will have a lot more room after Beaver goes away. Now I was thinking, wouldn't Wally be away at college at the same time? Technically no one would be using that room full time anymore. That scene seemed funny to me. Did anyone else notice that?

that crossed my mind too! but according to a floorplan of the cleaver home, there are 2 used bedrooms, and 2 guest rooms. if wally wanted space so bad why didn't he just take a guest room?

Wally also told Beaver that they will bring up a cot for him to sleep on too, after they put the other bed in the basement.

There might be an interval between when Beaver goes to boarding school and when Wally goes to college.

The bedroom thing is something of an incongruity about the show. Certainly they could have each had their own room all along, but if so there would be missing so much of the interaction between W & B, and the excuses for Eddie Haskell to give Beaver all his bad advice while he was 'waiting for Wally up in his room.' In fact, in season #2, when they are talking about moving, that's one thing they say, that they will each have their own room; but then, new house / same setup because of the interaction angle.

As for Wally having the room to himself if Beaver goes to prep school, perhaps he was thinking about being home for weekends, or arranging his classes to where he has to commute to 'State' 2 or 3 days a week (we don't know how far away that is supposed to be).

But needing to bring a cot for when Beaver manages to be there seems to go way out... where and on what did Aunt Martha sleep in her visit in that same ep? And in some eps we do see the 'guest room' with its heavy-frame bed. I'd take that to a cot.

TV land did not air these episodes in their original order. If you go to the episode guide at tvtome you will see that "Wally's Fraternity" orginally aired after Fallbrook. Therefore, Wally did not yet know for sure that he was going away to "State" so at this point only Beaver was the one going away to school.
