I've just seen a few Colin Farrell movies lately- and let's face it, he's in about everything except your kitchen washing the dishes- and it's really starting to bug me how he is a good actor but he can't hide his accent to save his life.
I mean it slips through in every role he is portraying an American. Nothing worse than Phone Booth. If an American tried to pull off say an Irish accent on a regular basis and fouled it up consistently you'd never hear the end of it. |

I remember the series in the UK colin farrel started in 'Ballykissangel'. It was never off tv- yet I wasn't a fan, it's a comedy but the first episodes I saw I thought it was drama- most tv shows filmed in ireland and made entirely by Irish people are usually not too good. I can't remember Farrel in the show- may have looked different.
But Ballykissangel has been of the air for a few years before Colin hit the big time- exactly how did he get recognised? I think people will finally just get sick of his movie cos now and again you like to see new actors in movie roles- but all the films he's in are typical hollywood films (though Daredevil was great)- the kind you don't specifcally remember in 20 or 50 years like someone would remember Casablanca or Gone With the Wind or The Exorcist. Whatever happened to Robin Williams? he did One Hour Photo but he's just stopped doing comedy it seems. I liked his films. I'm getting annoyed with Eddy Murphy so hopefully Williams will return- I think people got tired of him. It's really just him and Jim Carrey and Murphy and someone else I can't remember at the minute that run the comedy films. |

Colin Farrell is my new sweetie. I haven't noticed his accent in movies, but I'll listen for it next time. I saw him on Jay Leno last week, and his accent is so thick that I could barely understand him. I remarked to my husband that it's weird how he hides it during movies.
I saw Phone Booth twice. I think I'm too busy looking at how cute he is to listen to him. I think he's a good actor who will be around for a long time. |
