Default Something that Females Need to Stop saying when they are not Interested in a guy

Everytime I see a Female on Blindate who is not interested in a guy, they all say the same thing which is "WE CAN BE FRIENDS. The female know that is a lie so why not just say I don't think you are my type. That is what I say when I'm not interested in a female. What's the point of lying?

I agree. That line is so lame that I don't believe that the woman is saying it with the intention of easing the moment. I belive that is a her way of coming off as the superior being in the whole fiasco. It's either that or they are awfully lacking in the social graces. Everyone should know how that stinger line plays. It plays with insincerity. It's a real barfer.

One of my best friends says that to EVERY guy she dumps. I'm not joking EVERY ONE of them, she has given them that line. hno: I'm trying to get her to say something else besides that, because it's got to be annoying.

So when a guy says that he isnt your type after you would tell him you like him, does that mean he doesnt even want to be friends w\u? But if the guy says i dont like you like that, but youre a cool friend, does that mean he wants to be friends w\u or is he actually saying, i dont want to be your friend at all?

I would not mind being friends with a female that i'm not attracted to. But most people can't HANDLE being just friends when the find that person attractive.

I guess the point is that as females we sometimes think we're being "sensitive" and "polite" when we put it that way. It's so very hard for me to intentionally hurt someone's feelings.

My point is, it doesn't need to be said at all because it sounds stupid.

First off, if the date or meeting is mutually not that great then you won't be hurting anyone's feelings by saying somethng sincere. Such as: 'It was nice meeting you, I had fun.' The 'We can be friends' line has no place unless it is actually true. When it is true, that isn't what you would say because that line is only used when it isn't true. Sometimes people get together and have a good time but the romantic chemistry isn't there. None the less, something else might be there. Maybe they made one another laugh or conversed well and felt comfortable together. If that happens both people will feel it so then a statement like, 'Let's get together again sometime' might be appropriate. There is never a time that I can think of where the line, "We can be friends' has any usefulness.

First off, there are times when that is exactly what the woman means. She likes the guy, but isn't romantically attracted to him. Why ruin a wonderful friendship with romance?

Secondly,

I had one occasion where I actually DID use that line. My purpose was this: The freak of a guy had been seeing me and then just disappeared... poof... out of my life. He calls me a year later, lying through his teeth about not being able to contact me. I KNEW he was lying; I had information that he didn't realize that I did have. I just strung him along through this conversation. I let him get his hopes up that he could just pick up the relationship where he left off. I gave him every chance to tell me the truth, but he didn't.

In essense I gave him enough rope to hang himself. He did.

I made the statement: "Well, if you'd like a friend to go see a movie with or to talk to, give me a call."

He was dumbfounded. "What? You just want to be friends?"

My response: "Yep. That's all."

I never heard from him again.
That's what I wanted.

The line was very useful.

This is why women shouldn't speak.

I'm a guy, and when my first girlfriend broke up with me, *I* asked if we could still be friends (twist on a cliche, eh? ) She seemed caught off-guard. Strangely enough, two years later, she started hitting on me again. By then, though, she wasn't my type. She cussed to much and made fun of people I was friends with. But, it was fun walking up the school ramp with my arm around her. Haven't heard from her in a while...
