Since the European episodes are playing right now on TVLand, what's your favorite Euro episode?

Anything that doesn't involve the UK! Honestly, the view that American TV/film has of Britain varies between hilarious and faintly insulting.

And they're still doing it! Who makes these things, and which part of the UK is it that they've visited?!

OK, suppose they did want to make at least 2 episodes in the UK while on the European sequence... What plot ideas do you propose, and what should they definitely not have delved into?

Out of the European region (#136-#153, 18 episodes total) of I Love Lucy, these are my favorites:

It's not the plots, generally, so much as the way in which the country is portrayed, and the way people behave. It would be like a British show having an episode where somebody goes to America, and no matter where in the country they are, everybody is talking like John Wayne, wearing cowboy hats and boots, and using horses instead of cars.

It's an odd, old fashioned sterotyping thing, you know?

But, let's be fair Mick, those shows were filmed fifty years ago, surely Friends was more to your liking when they went to Britian? I loved the above quotes also, were'nt those guys the best writers ever? I've heard some people say they did not like the European shows as opposed to the Hollywood ones, i liked most of them, but the Bon Voyage with the boat and the helicopter being my all time favorite, Then maybe the Paris ones, the Monte Carlo Casino, then the British ones.

No! That's just it! If anything things have got worse... at least ILL had an excuse - that it was the fifties. They were closer to the truth of life in Britain in then. Friends in London was abysmal! There's a new film out "What A Girl Wants" or something, which is Americans in London again, and it's dreadful too. We do not still live in the 1950s! I think Hollywood has this sweet, rose-tinted view of how it imagines Britain once was, and how it wishes it was now, and it makes everything according to that template. Well the truth ain't like that...

My favorite European episodes are "Ricky's European Booking", "Staten Island Ferry", "Bon Voyage", "Lucy Meets the Queen", "Paris at Last", "Lucy in the Swiss Alps", and "Return Home From Europe." It's hard for me to choose just one.
