Default I'm Ashamed To Admit This, But....

Since we've been reminiscing about when we first started watching "Wings", I must admit that in the old "USA" days (before I became a "Wings" viewer and fan), I would channel-surf with the remote....and if and when I stumbled across "Wings" on USA, I used to think to myself, "What? "Wings" AGAIN? What is WITH that USA? Can't they find anything ELSE to show? They're ALWAYS running that "Wings"!".

I know, I know..."Shame on me!"...but if I knew THEN what I know NOW.....

Since you admitted that, I can admit this:

Before I watched it on USA, a friend of mine watched "Wings" on USA. He told me what his favorite show was and I went home and made fun of him for liking "Wings". That was a brief period in my life. Because as I've mentioned in the other post, that most of it's run, I liked it. It just wasn't until 2000 when I fell in love with it. I'm glad I came to my senses, although I haven't seen my friend in years.

I had that problem a couple of years ago with one of my roommates at college. She was always criticizing me and making fun of me for watching Wings. I finally asked her how many episodes she'd seen and she said she'd seen none. I made her sit down and watch a few episodes. She still didn't like the show, but at least now she can say she watched a few episodes. This girl was a big fan of Full House and Home improvement, so I wasn't too surprised that she ended up not liking Wings after all.

People who say they don't like a show without watching a couple of episodes first really bug me I try to give a show at least two or three episodes before I decide if it's worth my time or not.

My roommate was such a snotty, whiny, immature brat. I really don't know how she got into college.

hehe I'm notorious for criticizing a TV show without ever watching it. lol. The funniest example was with "Farscape", which is one of my favorite shows of all time, but for the first year or 2 that it was on, my dad and my brother used to watch it, and I'd just look at the TV and say "this show is stupid! why do you watch this?!" and I had never actually even watched it before. I just thought it looked stupid. and then my dad started getting the DVD's so i think one day I was bored, and I sat down and watched one of the season one episodes on DVD with my Dad. I was suddenly interested in the show, now that I actually gave it a chance! so i ended up watching a couple more episodes over the next few days, and then I was totally hooked!! I started watching the new episodes on Friday nights (i think they were into season 3), and then watching the earlier episdes on DVD at the same time. and it soon became my favorite show.

and then the same thing almost happened with "Alias". That's another one of my favorite shows. but when it premiered 2 years ago, I kept seeing the commercials for it, and the more i saw, the less I wanted to watch it. lol. then on the night of the 2-hour premeire, I almost didn't watch it, but my Dad was like, "come on! watch it with me!!" so i finally ended up watching it, and I actually really liked it, and now it's one of my favorite shows. hehe.

oh! and i just remembered another one- "Gilmore Girls". another one of my favorite shows. but for the first season it was on, i refused to watch it because i thought it was going to be like every other annoying teen drama on the WB channel. but then one day my best friend was over and she said "oh, we have to watch Gilmore Girls tonight!" and I was like, "uuhh, you watch that show?" and she was like, "it's good- you'll like it." so we watched it, and I liked it a lot. it's such a funny show. completely different than what i thought.

I'm surprised that I got into Wings as quickly as I did. Though, I remember when they were showing commercials for the Wings marathon on N@N, I remember thinking, "oh man, why do they have to put THAT show on for a whole week?!" lol. I hardly even remembered the show from its first run- all i remembered is that i watched it once in a while, and it never made much of an impression on me. but I totally wasn't ready to give it another chance! lol. I think the only reason why I ended up watching it was because I was used to watching TV late at night before I go to bed. it had become like a ritual. and I usually watched the Cosby show (haha!), so since Wings was on instead for that week, I just watched that!! I'm VERY glad I did, because after I had seen 3 or 4 episodes, my interest was raised, and I wanted to keep on watching it. eeeeeee!

Wow, another Alias AND Gilmore Girls fan?? Awesome! None of my friends or family watch either show...they don't know what they're missing! Those are my two favorite shows along with Friends, but Friends has been sucky lately. I can't wait till Alias premieres!!

Anyway, going along with the subject thread, there was never really a time I made fun of it. My mom watched it when I was aout 12, and I kinda got hooked right away, and even watched the USA reruns!

I know this is kinda OT, but I never could understand why so many TV critics and entertainment magazines loved to criticize and bash Wings. Most people I know who have seen the show have said they liked it. Maybe it wasn't one of their favorites, but I've never known too many people who've said anything bad about Wings.

I remember when Monk came out last summer and some of my co-workers saw a magazine ad for it and said, "Hey, that's Antonio from Wings! That show rocked!" I didn't think these girls ever even heard of Wings, since they were your stereotypical teenyboppers.(They were actually pretty fun to be around, if you didn't mind hearing about Britney Spears and Dawson's Creek and stuff like that.) :small voice: And I must confess. I used to listen to a lot of that bubblegum pop music myself. I still love The Backstreet Boys.
