I hope Oprah doesn't sue me

Anyway- has anyone just finished a book and would like to comment on it- or are you in the middle of reading one?

A few days ago I finished 'My Point, and I do have one' by Ellen DeGeneres- and it is definitely the funniest book ever printed- the only book I laughed out loud throughout every few pages. My favourite part is where Ellen writes a letter to a make believe friend apologizing for giving her 90 year old grandmother crotchless underwearfor a birthday party- thinking it's a wedding shower.

I'm now reading 'Danse Macabre' by Steven King. It's a book about the horror genre- what scares people- what types of horror are used in film,book and radio. So far there are some interesting books- and I like to think of it as a reference for films I should see. But it's full of nonsensical ramblings, and Kings memories and too many movie and book quotes- and King tries to dissect and classify every precise type of horror. It doesn't really give you a sense on how people are scared or how writers and filmmakers try to make a film scary- the book dwells too much on amateur psychiatry and current events at the time King was growing up seeing 'Horror' movies (Creature of the Black Lagoon etc- not really considered horror now-giving it now has a G rating) and how they affected how people were scared. The book so far isn't at all how I expected the horror genre tobe explained. so far then it's quite dull, with a few exceptions. Though it's gave me some great ideas on what books to read next.

It's only been recently I started reading again, there was a great void when I tried a few times to read Lord of the Rings (but I don't have the willpower- I love the story but it just gets so boring-but I loved 'The Hobbit' and hope they make a film version)
and the Hannibal Books- which are interesting but you need more time to read them and dedication, otherwise you forget the plot and have to go back. It was when I read Carrie and saw the Stepford wives that have started me reading again.

That is a good book. Most of Stephen King's books are excellent. The last book I read was The Year of Impossible Goodbyes for school, but it wasn't that good. My friend is reading a really good book off of Oprah's book list, but I'm not sure of the name of it.

I just finished Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen....It was so much better than the movie. I suggest everyone who liked the movie, read this book. I think one of the reasons its better is because it's an autobiography and you know everything is true, when in the movie, they obviously fabricate it a little. (o0o0o0oo big word. Go me.)

I haven't even seen the girl,interrupted movie.
Steven King is a good author but Danse Macabre is non-fiction. Carrie is a fantastic well-written book, i just hope to see the movie sometime. I saw 'IT' when I was like 6 and was badly traumatised basically.

Now I'm going to move on and read 'The Stepford Wives' if the library ever gets through with the order (That's how I got to read Ellen's book) and I'm waiting for ellen's new book in october.
