Talking Quality Cast in Cheesefest - Con Air or Armaggedon?

Ok- look at the actors in these two movies:

Con Air

Nicholas Cage
John Cusak
John Malkovich
Steve Buscemi
Ving Rhames
Colm Meaney

Armageddon

Bruce Willis
Billy Bob Thorton
Steve Buscemi
Michael Clarke Duncan
Ben Affleck (questionable)
Owen Wilson

Out of these two cheesey movies with actor that have done serious quality work in the past - Oscar winners and nominees too- which do you prefer and why?

Oh it's gotta be Con Air. Malkovich alone is worth the price of admission.

Plus it's cool to see John Cusak as a "take charge" Fed rather than...well John Cusak.

I liked Armaggedon better. Billy Bob and Buscemi are two of my favorites, and I'm a fan of Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck.

runs for cover from TJL, lol

I pick Con Air because there is some air (no pun intended) about it where these good actors know that they are in a fluff movie and take this schlep piece as their own little playground.

Cage is great as a self-assured, humble, God fearing good man in the wrong place at the wrong time.
-I mean, he is hamming it up- but as a respectful decent ass kicker. It's so bad its good, like he is making a parody of this character on purpose!

Malkovitch is always a fun watch (except for Knockaround Guys, holy crap was he baaaaad in that).

And John Cusak, you know he is thinking "what is this crap I agreed to?" or "thanks for the paycheck" but he just goes with the flow so naturally, not mailing in his performance.

At the end, when Cage and Cusak both get on motorcycles at the same time (and just noticing the other as they do it) and race off after Malkovitch, it is the pinnacle of the cheese.

Ah, the power of cheese...

Still, both movies mentioned above are enjoyable...

Yes, Janice, even with that Mr. J-Lo guy!

I love the part of "Con Air" near the beginning where Nicholas Cage's character, a former Army Ranger, defends his wife against the dorks. Cool martial arts action.
