SOAPnet Press Release

SOAPnet PRESENTS "THEY STARTED ON SOAPS," A STAR-STUDDED HOUR HIGHLIGHTING ACTORS WHO BEGAN THEIR CAREERS IN SOAPS
Special to premiere Wednesday, August 20 (11:00 P.M., ET/PT) Featured Stars Include Demi Moore, Julianne Moore and James Earl Jones

Burbank, Calif. (July 30, 2003) - Demi Moore, Meg Ryan, Alec Baldwin, Marisa Tomei, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Christian Slater, Brad Pitt, Christina Applegate, Tom Selleck… all great actors with one thing in common - they started on soaps!

On August 20 (11:00 p.m., ET/PT), SOAPnet presents the original one-hour special, They Started on Soaps, featuring these and other actors who started in daytime and then made it big in primetime and movies. Experts, including casting directors and journalists, discuss such actors as Ryan Phillippe, Vivica A. Fox, Susan Sarandon, Calista Flockhart, Marg Helgenberger, Morgan Freeman, Julianne Moore, Vanessa Marcil, Josh Duhamel and Anne Heche and what makes daytime such a great proving ground. Lisa Rinna and Rue McClanahan talk about how good it is to play a bad girl, and Ray Liotta and James Earl Jones prove that nice guys don't always finish last.

They Started on Soaps is produced by Lucky Duck Productions, the award-winning and critically acclaimed production company owned and operated by journalist, producer and author Linda Ellerbee, who serves as executive producer of the special, along with Rolfe Tessem. They are joined by producer/writer Wendy Lobel and editor John Ashbridge. Lucky Duck Productions is renowned for producing children's programming, primetime specials, documentaries and limited-run series for network and cable television.

SOAPnet, the new way to watch soaps, offers same day episodes of popular daytime dramas including All My Children, One Life To Live, General Hospital, and Port Charles at night for convenient viewing. In addition, the network provides inside access to stars and storylines with original programs including the Emmy®-nominated one-hour talk show, Soap Talk and the entertainment magazine show Soap Center. Wrapped in a 24-hour environment, SOAPnet also offers primetime classics including Dynasty, and Knots Landing as well as the former series Another World and Ryan's Hope.

I love Susan's acting in Ebbie. She was terrific. She did other movies than that I know, but Ebbie is my favorite with her in it.

Sarah really bloomed out of the soap opera business. She has been in a lot of big screen movies and tv shows.
