I am usaually up to date with these new terms society uses. I keep hearing people say Bling Bling. What is that mean? Is it good or Bad? I have no clue. So any of you cool hip youngsters who have this knowledge please share.

bling bling is shiny stuff, like diamonds and expensive jewelry. people use it when talking about their jewelry and stuff like that.

Come on, give the guy a break. Do you know how old he is? Or where's he from? Or what kind of family or neighborhood he grew up in? Probably not.

Hell, I'm 18 and lived in Chicago, but I've never knew what a 'bling bling' was before. Why you may ask? It's because of the environment I grew up in. It's different for everyone.

That doesn't make any sense at all. I know you're struggling to make a point, but that was rather silly. So, the more you know is terrible, right? Yeah, in your world it does. Who cares where he's from? If they heard it in a video, then it should've been rather obvious. If they heard it from a friend was it hard to ask what it meant? And according to their profile, they're 23. Environment has nothing to do with it. I know plenty of country kids that know what the term means. That's like complaining against standardized testing. If you don't know then you don't know. It's just that simple. You took what I said above too seriously. Besides, the comment wasn't meant for you anyways.

I was trying to make a counterpoint. You said it's sad that he doesn't know, so I said it's sad that you do know. It was meant as a 'Why should he know' type of thing. But that wasn't my main point. You made a stupid comment, so I made one as well. It was more of a joke-humor-haha type thing.

Now going on to my main point. Just because the guy doesn't know what a certain phrase means, doesn't mean it's sad. There's a lot of people all over the globe who have their certain slang and know what it means, while not knowing what other slang terms mean. Plus, the guy is already an adult, is married, and has a child. Do you seriously expect him to watch videos all day and catch and understand all the slang in then? I'm afraid not. And I'm also from the country right now, and as far as it goes, no one in that town uses that phrase, so how would you expect them to know? You can't just watch TV 24/7.

Okay, a few things.

1. That was meant as humor. Notice how Sarah started talking in slang. I quoted her, and followed what she did. Why didn't you single her out, hm? Does discrimination ring a bell to anyone?

2. I guess these boards are all about being mature and never letting loose. What, DTP, do you see in my comment that's so immature? Am I not allowed to joke around? Hm...? Well then, I'll buckle down and be the most mature, responsible, and non-fun person on the boards! Yay! !

3. If you come back at this post with some sort of snyde remark or long explanation, don't bother. My reply was all in good fun. Nothing was serious (The discrimination, the most mature, responsible parts, etc.). I, of course, had to say this though or else you'd just call me immature again. Think of my posts in this way. You know how in Spanish you have a verb refering to your self? Such as, como (I eat) or bebo (I drink)? Well, they don't use yo, the word for I. (Yo) como.....(yo) bebo. It's invisible, but it's there. It's kind of like sarcasm. You can't really detect it on a computer screen, but trust me, it's there.

Anyways, just like I said earlier, you took what I said too seriously, and once again if he had a problem with what I said then fine. It didn't have anything to do you.

No one said he had to sit all day and catch up on the lingo. That's your angle. I just found it odd that he hadn't heard the term before.

Obviously, he's heard the term before. It's just like how some kid I knew kept saying "this was safe" and "that was safe". I knew he was from the UK so automatically I figured it was a foreign term. When he said it he nodded his head and had a grin on his face so I figured it meant "cool" or "good". I looked it up and I was right. I'm just saying that the source of the word gives a very good indication of what it means.

I don't know who Mossopp is, but does he help you with your arguments?

I just saw your other post. Sarah is 14, so I tried not to take her too seriously. It just seemed to me like you were trying to be a smart ass concerning race/environment. No harm intended. The other stuff isn't worth commenting on.
