Question LEXX - anyone ever watched this bizarrefest?

I've seen a couple episodes and bits and pieces of others, and I can't come to a conclusion whether this is good wacky sci-fi or complete crap.

I have a funny feeling one day I will wake up with $200 worth of Lexx dvds and wondering what led me to this fate.

I never got into that series either. Too much cheesecake, not ehough sci-fi.

I was either lucky (or unfortunate) enough to catch a few hours of a LEXX marathon on TV1 (Australia-Cable) in 2003. It's an interesting concept (what I could work out of it) a weird assasin who can't be killed, a human slob running the most powerful vessel in the known universe and the hot sex-slave could have intriguing possibilities, but too often they seem to fall into a trap borne of their own vices/stupidity, the action is cartoonish and the CGI obvious, and that talking head thing really annoys me, the only thing that ever redeemed this was the (all too rare) occasional nudity. But the idea looks way better on paper than it does on the screen.

LEXX is a fun show. However, it definitely is an acquired taste. Some people love it; some people hate it. Some people decided to condemn the show as "soft-porn" without ever watching one episode. Nope, not at all, though there is plenty of innuendo and a little bit of skin. NYPD Blue and other primetime network shows are more pornographic.

I'm on the "love" side, though I am not as devoted to it as some folks are.

Yes, there are lots and lots of flaws in the production. It can be quite cheesy. But then, I like a bit of Ed Wood productions, so maybe that's why I don't mind the cheap sets and FX.

But, on the other hand... it is not all cheesy; it is not all cheap. Some of the props and FX are quite good.

The show is campy. The show is goofy. The show is HUMAN, and that is why I like it. It shows the human condition in various forms.

790, the robot head: Annoying, but devoted. Smart, but willfully "ignorant" when it suits him.

Stanley Tweedle: Goof-off and goof-up. Self-centered and self-indulgent. But he has a heart of gold. Cowardly, yet quite brave when he needs to be.

Zev/Xev: Beautiful love slave, minus the brainwashing, who for much of the series was virgin. She grew up in a box (yep!), and is quite innocent. She is reckless and brave, oftentimes getting the entire bunch of them into lots of trouble because her curiosity gets the best of her.

Kai, the dead assassin: He is the last of his people; killed by the bad guy (His Divine Shadow, HDS) and then kept "alive" by protoblood. It was prophesied that Kai would destroy the Divine Order of HDS, so HDS decided that he would keep Kai around to kill others; HDS loved the irony of it all. Kai had no memory of his previous life. He had no reactions to anything, since he was actually dead. But events occurred that brought back Kai's memories, and those of many people assassinated in the name of HDS. These memories haunted Kai.

Ah... I had to edit... I missed a major character:

The Lexx: Their living space ship. A big bug, which is the most powerful weapon of destruction in the two universes. He talks, but only to his captain, Stan Tweedle, or to others upon Stan's instruction. Lexx blows up planets.

The different seasons of the show:

1) The four Showtime movies, which gave the foundation of the story.
2) Season 2, which was when SciFi Channel picked it up, showed the wandering through space of our four heroes. We saw them fight HDS, and others.
3) Season 3 was more of a soul-searching kind of approach to the story. The Water and Fire planets seem to represent heaven and hell. This season was only 13 episodes long.
4) The last season had our team on the planet earth. The tone of the show seemed to go back a bit to that of season 2. But our characters have grown by this time, so their approach to events is more guarded.

Like I said, you have to get used to it. But once you do, you might very well find out that you are hooked.

You can count me as one of the fans of Lexx. I completely agree it is a bit wacked out..... In a good way.

It is worth a rental on Netflix. I liked it all except the last season. The one where they got to earth. I sort of lost interest then.

I would let Lyekka eat me

Couldn't agree more. Found out about Lexx this year. Can you believe it?
I've been saving the last 10 episodes and S3's finale because it's all so incredible. I've never found a sci-fi show as creative and consistently entertaining as this. Absolutely incredible and underrated/underseen show.
