Default Amber Benson Should Have Been in The Opening Credits!

She was in 45 episodes, that is more episodes than Marc Blucas (Riley) was in and he was added in the opening credits right away, which was stupid since they wrote him out the following season. I know they did add Amber in the opening credits in the episode 'Seeing Red' which was stupid imo, because that was the episode her character died in. It was like a slap in the face imo.

Number of episodes Amber was in each season:

Season four - 12 episodes
Season five - 18 episodes
Season six - 15 episodes

I've often bitched about that to my mom. Look how fast Marc, Michelle, and James got added to the credits. But to add Amber to the credits the very ep she dies in, man, that's just low. jmo

I hate that Michelle got added right away with out being in the show at first. One episode (Dracula), at the very end we see her, then the next episode she is in the opening credits. It was insane to fans because we knew Buffy never had a sister and she was very annoying!

That took guts to add a kid sister. I think Buffy is the only show that withstood the leap of adding a kid. You go into Jump the Shark.com and look up a show that added a kid, mainly it gets the jumps. Sam on Diff'rent Strokes, I bet he got the main vote for when the show took a flying leap over. Stephanie prob. did it on All in the Family. Um, Growing Pains with um that little curly haired girl, I bet it jumped w/ her, too. That just took guts to add a sister. And imo, it didn't make the show jump. Season 5 kicked ass, season 6 did and season 7 did.

Never Jumped- I like just about every season, so yeah, I do agree with the Never Jumped
747

Death (Tara)- However, I did miss Tara and it did get a little bit weak. Not weak enough to jump.
602

Singing (The Musical)- I loved the Musical
343

New Kid In Town (Dawn)- Dawn bothered me at first, but now she's cool in my book
231

Graduation- Still strong 5-7.
103

Riley and the Initiative- Yeah, he sucked and it sucked.
98

Not That There's Anything Wrong With It (Willow)
92- Do I even have to say anything about this? I can't believe people would vote that as a jumper

Day One
81- Nope

They Did It (Spike and Buffy)- Nope.
78

Death (Buffy)
60- The death ep kicked ass

Death and Rebirth (Angel)
33- Angel rocks and the death ep was awesome, so I'm glad they brought him back.

"Normal Again"
33- Odd ep, but quite cool.

They Did It (Buffy and Angel)
28- Nope, didn't make it jump as far as I'm concerned

Hair Care (Buffy crops it)
26- Eh, she did look better with the longer blonde hair.

Oz gets written off
22- I like Oz, but I'm glad he left so Tara could come

I Don't (Xander and Anya)
21- Eh, you can't win on this one. People would bitch if they did get married, people would bitch if they didn't get married.

The fourth season
20- Yep

Spinoff (Angel)
17- Angel rocks!

Exit... Stage Left (Giles)
15- Nope. It might've jumped big time if Anthony Head left and never came back, but he did come back, so.....

They Did It (Buffy and Riley)
13- Ugh.

Dracula
11- Kind of a weak ep.

Sarah Michelle Gellar
9- Wtf?

Marti Noxon
9- Got no comment for her

1999 Finale
8- it rocked

The second season
6- Spike and Drusilla rock

Angel becomes evil
6- I loved it

Josh Whedon runs out of steam
5- Nah, he didn't run out of steam. Even the weak season had watchable eps.

Recycling
4- How?

Death (Jenny Calendar)
4- I did like Jenny, but her death didn't make it jump for me.

Network Switch (WB to UPN)- Can't really comment about this one.
3

Nobody left in town to die
2- lol

2/1/99
2- What's this?

Buffy uses VISA at the occult shop
2- Huh?

Faith tries to seduce Angel
2 Nope

Jumped Back (Spike returns)
2 baby! lol

1998 season premiere
1- Nope

The fashion police fail to arrest Willow
1- Good night nurse.

Body Switching
1- Loved it

Angelus
1- Cool

Oz returns
1- Good ep

Finale preempted in Indiana
1- I'd be ready to stomp heads

Death (Faith)
1- Well, no comment on this since she didn't die.

Sarah Michelle Gellar dates Freddie Prinze Jr.
1- What's that gotta do w/ the show?

It's on the WB
1- N/C

Soapie
1- Nope

Singing (Giles)
1- I like Anthony's singing. Now if we want to talk about singing making a jump, you go watch some of the color eps of Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C. Jim, you got a good voice, but there really is no point in you singing in just about every color ep.....

The second slayer
1- I liked her

The underground science lab
1- sucked

The Wish
1- I like it.

Nudity (Spike)
1- Now now, I do like leather jacket Spike more than I do naked Spike, but the guy is still hot any which way.

Willow's "magic"
1- Brought good storylines

Anya- I like her

I was mainly talking about the true death ep, 'The Gift'. I know she died in PG, but Idk, it wasn't really a true death move. I guess what I would consider being a true death move is seeing a headstone.

You know, I would still like to know where she went to when she died in PG. If she didn't go to heaven then where the hell did her soul go? That never made any sense to me.

I think that the reason this was done was Joss Whedon's whole "I wanna kill a character from the opening credits" thing. He mentioned that he wanted to do this with the Jesse (Eric Balfour) character in the "Buffy" pilot, he did it to Doyle from "Angel" in the episode "Hero," he later on killed Cordelia on "Angel," and he did it to Tara in THE ONE episode where she is in the opening credits. I've always HATED THAT!!! Amber Benson should have been added to the credits a long time before that. I guess I was just upset over her death on the show. (I remember wanting to throw things at the TV!) Anyway, I agree that Amber Benson should have been in the opening credits way before she finally was.

ive griped about this for years shes was a main character...she became officially, in her mind, part of the scooby gang in "family"! it was dumb to put her name in the credits on her last ep, yet it wouldve been worse to not even acknowledge her as a main character in her last ep!
