Jinny - Where does she go from here? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

From the very beginning, Jinny has been written as a self-destructive character. And that's always how we've identified her. But now that she's in therapy and she seems to be making progress, where does that leave her? Are the writers going to change her? Is she going to become this happy, stable woman? Well, I don't like that. I don't like it at all. Many of us Jinny fans found the character appealing because of her self-destructive nature. She's always been this tough woman living in pain with secrets and lies. Call me crazy, but I love her for that. I love her because she's so negative and cynical. Are the writers going to change her? Is she no longer going to be the sarcastic, suffering cop we all know and love? It doesn't seem right to me. She brings this sense of reality and truth and pain to the diverse woman + man known as the SPFD felony division. To take that away would be wrong.

I don't want to see Jinny get better. Sorry, but I don't. Hell, I was pissed when she went to rehab. I know people are supposed to change and grow, but I don't think that's right for Jinny. So what's going to happen? What will they do with her? Will she be okay next season? Will she be moving forward with her life? I wonder.

I think she'll try to get her life back together and move on but the roof will cave in and she'll hit rock bottom - again. But this time she'll be at an even lower point than when she was in Baby It's Cold Outside.

What do you all think? I want to hear your thoughts.

I don't think Jinny is going to be miraculously cured. I think she still has some stuff to work through and they're gonna let her do so. I don't her cynicism is gone, I think that's just Jinny, and her depression isn't gone, just medicated.
However, I think it's great how she said she was finally looking forward to things. She herself said she doesn't know what the future holds, but it should be interesting to see next season...

Oh, and when she said that about the future and then they showed C.D. lying there....that was freaky cool!

I think that Jinny will suddenly be cured, but I dont want her to be. When I first watched the show, when it first came on, I thought she was just a slut who drank too much. But now, you see all of the things that she's gone through. Jin's character has the most depth out of all of them, i think. That really had nothing to do with the question, but I just realized that my thoughts on her had changed.

She still has sh*t to work thru, but I hope they dont make her cured becuz I relate most to jinny cuz I've been thru some of the stuff she has. Granted, my mom didnt kill herself, but the whole 'dad having an affair and having this secret life' (which got really ugly by the way). If they change her really quick I'm gonna be pissed.

No... she won't get better...at least not right away. If she's been that depressed and screwed up since she was little, it's going to take a hell of a lot more than a few therapy sessions to cure it all.

It'll take a long time for Jinny to be really healed, like Amy said. A couple of therapy sessions isn't going to do it. I have a feeling there will be a lot more sessions, maybe even a family therapy session?...who knows, it would help the healing process, and it'd be interesting. I do agree...Jinny does have the most depth compared to the other characters because of what she has gone through, which makes her character even more real and relate-able to. I'm looking forward to seeing Jinny get better...which will definitely take time. But, you know lifetime, just when things seem to be getting better, they make jinny hit rock bottom again (like her drug addiction).
