Question Do you think Giles & Joyce would have made a great couple?

In season 3, the episode 'Band Candy' I liked how they put them together. It should have stayed like that. They made a great couple imo. What do you think?

You know, I do like the interaction in Band Candy. I think it would've been interesting to see them together as a couple. And then when Joyce dies, that would've been one (well, hell it already was) big crying ep.

That definitely could have worked. I am suddenly reminded of the scene in "Forever" where Giles is sitting alone, after Joyce's funeral, drinking and listening to the same song he listened to with Joyce in "Band Candy". So yeah, maybe he was thinking what might have been.
Of course, that would have opened up another new plot thread for Buffy -- "OK, Giles is a good guy -- but do I really want him with my Mom?" Maybe Joss and co. felt Buffy was under enough stress at the time (Senior Year, relationship with Angel self-destructing, Faith, yadda yadda yadda) that they didn't want to make things too unbearable.
Oh well, that's what they make fanfic for!

But Giles was already like a father to Buffy. In the episode 'Helpless' Quentin tells Giles he has a fathers love for Buffy. Giles had to have some feelings for Joyce, like you said in the scene 'Forever' when he listens to that song, so they could have worked out imo.

And you still got the negative vibe w/ what did happen. Look at all the couples and most of them just didn't last.

Buffy and Angel- Nope
Buffy and Riley- Nope
Willow and Oz- Nope
Willow and Tara- Nope
Willow and Kennedy- one of the few that actually made it through, but I'm not sure if this one counts. I bet if the show lasted any longer, W & K would've busted up.
Xander and Cordelia- Nope
Xander and Anya- Nope
Giles and Jenny- Nope
Buffy and Spike- can you even count B & S? Yeah, they had sex, but Idk, I guess you could count them semi-couple, that's how I look at it anyway.

So if you had Giles and Joyce getting together, it would've failed, too. I'm not sure I got every couple, but you kind of get the basic idea about almost all couples failing.

That's what I love about this show, there was usually never a happy ending.

I think you could count Spike & Drusilla. They were important villains in season 2. Then in season 3 Spike came back and talked about how they broke up

Yeah, I forgot to include Spike and Dru. And I guess you can add Spike and Harmony, too.

I wasn't too fond of Harmony, either. I wouldn't call her my least favorite character though, that honor goes to Riley. But if there is a second place honor, Harmony would get it.

I thought Harmony was HILARIOUS!!! I loved her in ANGEL!!!
When i was watching the special features on the dvds Joss Whedon said that since we saw her die in Graduation that it would be funny (or something like that) to add her.
I thought she was a cute twist.

Anyways, answering the question, no i don't think so.
