Default "Thank You For Being a Friend" on vh-1 classic:

I was floored when I heard it. I had no Idea that it was a real song before it was shortened to become this show's theme. The artist's name was Andrew Gold.

Apparently none of you were around in the 80's when that song came out. Andrew Gold's version is longer and much better. It was one of those one-hit wonders.

*JoyceDeWittIsMyAngel* Thanks for the compliment.

phoebe7165 I was around in the 80's, I just never knew Andrew Gold. I was born in 82 and I am almost 21 now. So, don't say, just because someone is around in the 80's means you know every famous actor or singer in the 80's.

Andrew Gold has a website... and there is the sheet music for the song "Thank You for Being a Friend." You can also download the full version on winmx.com

Here's the link

Being born in '82 is not being around in the 80's. Do you remember 1985 when you were 3? No? Didn't think so. And I agree, because someone was around in the 80's doesn't mean they know every famous actor or singer in the 80's, but I DO!! That's why I'm the pop culture goddess. Don't even bother answering my post because I won't read it.

To quote the great Mrs. Edna Garrett...

Would you girls care for a bowl of Meow Mix?

And Pheobe, I was born in '75, so I did "grow up" in the 1980s. And I never heard that song until TGG. I don't think it was a one-hit-wonder, because I don't think it was a big hit. One-hit-wonders are "Mickey" by Toni Basil, "Whip It" by Devo, and "867-5309/Jenny" by Tommy Tutone. Those are songs that are recognized. If you played "Thank You..." it wouldn't be known for Andrew Gold, but TGG.

And that's my two cents...

Then you were born the same year as my sister, 3 years later, my brother was born then 4 and a half years later I was born.
