I have never really been interested in the movie The Graduate, but yesterday it was shown on TV. Anyway, there was a scene in which Dustin Hoffman waits for Mrs. Robinson to arrive at a hotel. People there thought he was part of a party. Alice Ghostley (I think) introduced herself and her sister, who happened to be Marion Lorne!!

If I am incorrect in any of this, I apologize. And if I am, please advise!!

Yes Don,
You are absolutely right there. "The Graduate" is special to me because it "unites" on screen for the only time Aunt Clara and Esmeralda...well Marion Lorne ands Alice Ghostley anyway!!! It must have been made not long before Marion's death during her last season on "Bewitched".

Wow! I guess there were more people watching The Graduate yesterday than I thought. I caught it somehwere in the middle when I noticed Marion Lorne crossing the screen. (I missed the part with Alice Ghostley.)

The Graduate was released in 1967.

Even though I don't really like The Graduate (I mean, I think it's highly overrated), I must have seen it dozens of times because whenever it's on TV, I tune in to see Marion Lorne (and then usually turn it off afterward).

I agree. Pardon me for going slightly

for a moment, but I've never seen The Graduate all the way through. I'm kind of glad, especially since I've never been a big fan of Simon & Garfunkel. If I had to listen to "Scarborough Fair" one more time, I'd have

I'm a newbie to regular viewing of Bewitched, thanks to TV LAND, so I can only comment on Aunt Clara.
I think she's hilarious and did a wonderful job with the role of the lovable scatterbrain.
I seem to recall from my old days of watching that Aunt Clara used to collect, or kind of steal, doorknobs. Was this done in the beginning of her run and abandoned? I don't see her doing that now.
Samantha is very loving towards Aunt Clara....kisses her often, calls her dear...it's nice to see.

I read that Marion Lorne actually collected antique doorknobs as a hobby in real life. You're right. I don't see her doing that now in the series, either.

Yes thats right. That hobby of Clara's was emphasized quite alot in the black and white episodes but once the show moved into colour her collecting of doorknobs was mentioned I think only in one episode.

Not only did Sam love her but darrin seem offly fond of the old dear as well. She was the only one of Sam's relatives he liked.

It's funny, actually, I'm a huge Simon & Garfunkel fan, but even I have my limits. Watching Dustin Hoffman wander around for an hour with "Scarborough Fair" playing in the background thirty times is more than even an S&G fan can take.

You can tell Darrin really cared about Aunt Clara, too. He was such a softie when it came to her. "Bewitched, Bothered and Infuriated" jumps to mind as a good episode. He even kisses her on the cheek before he goes to work. Aww.
