a spin off is when they make a tv show out of a tv show thats already out LIKE this new matt Leblanc tv show thats rumoured to be coming out is a spin off of FRIENDS (or is supposed to be)

Spinoff
Four examples of successful spin-offs are LaVerne & Shirley (from Happy Days), Mork & Mindy (from Happy Days), Different World (from The Cosby Show) and the most successful spin-off to date would have to be Frasier (from Cheers).
