Thumbs down Times They are a-changing on Nick for the worse!

Why are they changing the line-up on Nick? I grew up watching the Rugrats every night at 6:30(central time) This sucks!

Nick lost it when they stopped showing Charlie Brown, Animaniacs, Pinky & The Brain and Garfield. Spongebob stinks, and most of the other toons are mediocore and unfunny.

The same has happened to Nick at Nite. It has some good shows, yes. But, can "modern TV classics" compare to the "100% unreality" days? I think not. "Roseanne" could very well be the death knell for N@N, just as "Spongebob" was the death knell for regular Nick.

Good point. Look at the cartoons on now. Fairly Oddparents??! My life as a teenage ROBOT??? What is that crap? It is not even funny. I think Nickelodeon has gone downhill very much since 1999. Even the U Pick thing. I hate that annoying Brent! Nick is starting to take a backseat to the Disney Channel. Die Nick, Die!!!!

I grew up during the glory days of Nick (back in the 80's), and I just can't believe how much it has changed. Nick used to air shows that were original and had substance. Now, it's nothing but mindless cartoons. It's clear that Nick is trying to compete with Cartoon Network and Disney (which has also gone way downhill).

Yeah, Nick isn't as good as it was in the 80's. They need a new version of "You Can't Do That on Television". Kids today don't know things like if they don't know the answer to a question, they shouldn't say I don't know because they'll slime dumped on them. Or that they should never ask for water because water will be dumped on them.

Yeah, I miss "You Can't Do That On Television", too. Like CTW's "The Electric Company" during the 1970s, YCDTOT was a good place to see unabashed comedy in its purest form...corny, juvenile, and right-on-point! All the other alleged comedy shows that have followed are not on par with YCDTOT...and THAT is a cryin' shame!!

I miss "The Tomorrow People", as well.

I totally agree. Nickelodean hasn't been the same and neither has Nick at Nite, The Disney Channel, and Cartoon Network. All of these networks have been going downhill, IMO. The only animated networks worth watching that are for kids are Toon Disney, Boomerang (classic Hanna-Barbara Cartoons), and the Nicktoons Channel. And the only network featuring classic television these days that is worth watching is TV Land.

I miss the old Nickelodeon. Back in the day, I used to watch "Hey Dude", "Salute Your Shorts", "You Can't Do That on Television", "Fifteen", "Rugrats", "Doug", "Ren & Stimpy", "Wild and Crazy Kids" and "Space Cases" (Which was the last original Nick show I watched).

"Rugrats" used to be good, now I think it's not funny. Same goes for "Ren & Stimpy" (The Spike version sucks). I wish Nickelodeon would have a block of their classic shows every day. Or Maybe include them early on N@N, maybe in the 8:00 hour.

As for N@N, my second favorite show (Wings) is on and I'm glad about that. But I admit it's too soon for N@N. In fact, I would rather them stick to showing classic shows (1950's,60's and early 70's) and give those "Modern Classics" to another channel.

I agree that it would be wonderful if Nick were to show those cartoons again but I disagree about your take on SB. SB has made that company more money then any of those other shows combined. It's a funny cartoon as well. The others are horrible. Those cartoons you mentioned were syndicated to the network from the major networks that stopped airing them, there best original cartoon was SB and there best original TV show was You Can't Do That on Television, in my eyes I do hope to see some of the older stuff again on TV!

Rosanne was very cutting edge back in the days it aired, but I'd never call it classic TV, lol

Well they did create All That which is a similar type of show.

IMO, it's not even close to being anything like YCDTOTV.

I absoutely agree with moviedude225. They should keep SB and cancel everything else. SB is the only cartoon that I look at on Nick. Instead of my life as a teenage robot they should show little bear. anything else would be better than what their showing now!

I remember Nick from the 1980's and early 90's. The shows then were a lot better than SpongeBob and Fairly Odd Parents.

Disney/NICK were great in the 80's and 90's with shows like...

The Secret World Of Alex Mac
Clarissa Explains It All
MMC
Kids Incorparated
Roundhouse
You Can't Do That On Television
Hey, Dude
FIFTEEN
Welcome, Freshmen
and more....

I agree, and with ALL the shows you mentioned. I was always into the live action stuff over the toons. I didn't know how much I'd miss those shows once they weren't on anymore. I was used to all those shows being around. They really need to have a Nickelodeon Classic Channel, maybe they're ashamed of competing with their past; more people would be watching classic Nick than current Nick.
