Default incosistency....

...between "The Jeffersons" & "All in the Family". On "AITF" once, they saidthat before the Jeffersons opened their first cleaners, George was a janitor somewhere, and they opened the store in Queens, in 1971. But, on "The Jeffersons" in a flashback episode, they show that George opened his first cleaners in Harlem in April, 1968 (the day Martin Luther King was shot).

I never caught that one. BUt did you get catch this inconsistency between All in the Family and the Jeffersons? IN the pilot episode of the Jefersons-The Jeffersons Move Up, George tells Louise before they leave Queens that they are going to Manhattan in a Limo. But in the Opening Credits in 1975, George and Louise are in a Cab and Louise is wearing a Red coat. In the pilot episode, Louise had on a light blue coAt. Louise never wore a red coat during the entire run of the Jefersons.

No that just means the pilot episode was consistent with the Opening Credits of 1975.

yes, I've known that about the cab, I caught it back when the show was first on, but I never knew tthat about Louises coat.

But, I've thought about that thing with the cab, and maybe that's what George meant when he said a limo. And on the pilot on "AITF" when he said "We're gonna leave "Bunkersville" in style!" maybe he was just kidding, since we didn't accully see them move, because the next scene was of their apartment.

The Move was the OPENING CREDITS. That was supposed to be the part of the pilot we didn't see. Of course we could see them actually riding to Manhattan in the pilot but they could have atleast keep it consistent with the episode. Instead of a cab, have George ad Louise in a Limo and Louise wearing a light blue coat instead of the red one.

Oh please, don't get Sitcom Analyzer started again. Next he'll be insisting that the Jeffersons is not really a spin off of All In The Family.

THe Jeffersons is a PRIME EXAMPLE of what a spinoff is so i will never say it's not a spinoff.

I've since remembered though, that on the Jeffersons ep. I mentioned, George is just showing Louise & Lionel where he's gonna open the store. Then they hear some commotion outside, & find out that Martin Luther King was shot. So maybe, after that George decided to put thhe store "on hold" for a while, for some reason.

According to your "logic", it couldn't be. There's a location difference from Queens to Harlem. Fortunately, neither the real world nor the pretend world operates under Sitcom Analyzer's way of thinking.

Hey, I came across a blurb in a magazine from 1977 where an intern on the Jeffersons said that the show wasn't really a spinoff of All in the Family. So my conclusion is...The Jefferson's is NOT a spinoff!!!
