Default Stress

Is it true that stress causes zits, or is that a myth?

I'm sure there probably is some truth to that but I think it all depends on the person. Some people say if they eat chocolate or drink Coke they will break out but it doesn't do that to me.

It sure can. Stress can cause all sorts of things, from zits, to rashes, to stomach problems, to headaches...stress affects the body a lot more than many people realize.

Stress can also cause migraines, ulcers, heart attacks, cluster headaches and eczema, the best thing to do is to try and learn to relax more....there are natural ways to do this such as aromatherapy, more exercise, establish good and strong friendships and try to eat as many fruits and vegetables as you can. Stay away from caffeine, as it tends to make a person hyper, especially when consumed in large quantities...same goes for tea and chocolate, as they also contain caffeine like coffee does. Colas tend to have caffeine as well, so try to consume decaffeinated ones. Hope that helps.

zits are just a mass of bacteria, I do not think that they are caused by stress, if they were, I would have a pizza face. And the whole "chocolate causes zits" stuff is just an urban legend.

Stress does cause zits yes. But, it has been proven that greasy foods and chocolate do NOT cause zits unless you rub it all over your damn face.

Yes, it can affect you later in life and I too have heard that a lot of stress can shorten your life. One thing I have heard that if you live alone it is good to have a dog or cat around so you won't be lonely all the time. Pets make very good companions and studies show can help relieve stress. Although in my case a dog or cat would just add more stress in my life because I don't have a lot of patience with pets. Some people mentioned stress can lead to ulcers and that too can affect you later in life. Although ulcers can be treated, I don't think they ever fully go away and you have to constantly watch what you eat. Stress can also raise your blood pressure which could lead to heart problems. One of my teachers in HS once said that alcohol in moderation can help with stress, I don't know how true that is though.
