Default The Towering Inferno or The Poseidon Adventure?

Which of these two disaster flicks are your favorite? I have to go with The Towering Inferno. That film is 165 minutes long but it is much more action-packed than TPA. It put the "D" in disaster flick. I do like TPA but it has a very slow start. Not only that but 99 44/100% of the cast is suddenly wiped out when the ship starts to sink. When I first watched TTI, I was just shocked. It was a great movie IMO. You never know what happens next when you watch it for the first time. But I'll give a word of warning. If you do not like movies where a number of people get killed, then TTI is not for you. Leonard Maltin said in his review of the film that it "spends most of its time devising grisly ways for people to die." This film has a lot of fire, explosions, people burning, and others falling 80+ stories high. But that's not why I like it. It has an all-star cast and has more punch in it than Mike Tyson's fist.

Wow. That is a tough choice.

But I would have to go with Towering Inferno.

McQueen is the coolest.

Gene Hackman did a good job in Poseiden Adventure, but McQueen is a great hero..

That is a tough question, but I'll go with The Towering Inferno. Whenever that movie comes on, it sucks me right in. With hunks like Paul Newman and Steve McQueen in their prime....
They were both great movies.

The Towering Inferno is a great flick, but I'm going with The Poseidon Adventure on this one.

I love all the drama. Everyone's dressed up, partying all night long on a big ole ship, when suddenly... disaster strikes! Who will make it out alive?

I'll go with the Poseiden Adventure. For some reason that movie hooked me since I was a kid. The Towering Inferno is a classic, but not as good as Poseiden. In my Opinion of course.

I'm gonna say The Poseidon Adventure. Both are great movies but I just liked the Poseidon Adventure more.

Poseidon. An unusual disaster movie. A good idea- a ship overturns and most passengers are stuck on the bottom (top?).

I liked both movies, but I saw the original Poseidon Adventure in the theater
so I'll pick it.

I nearly picked Inferno - that I think had the better cast (everyone from Richard Chamberlain to Fred Astaire!); but I had to pick Poseidon. It was a fantastic movie, it's really held up over time, and the real reason: it was the first. The Poseidon Adventure pretty much started the entire disaster genre.
