If the networks, for one month, would pick a year of the past and play their primetime lineups from that year. For example....if for one month during the summer, they decided to air their 1981 lineups it would be like this...
(all times central) SUNDAY ABC: 6pm: "Code Red" 7pm: "Today's FBI" 8pm: Sunday Night Movie CBS: 6pm: "60 Minutes" 7pm: "Archie Bunker's Place" 7:30: "One Day at a Time" 8pm: "Alice" 8:30: "The Jeffersons" 9pm: "Trapper John MD" NBC: 6pm: Specials 6:30: "Here's Boomer" 7pm: "CHiPs" 8pm: Sunday Night Movie MONDAY ABC: 7pm: "That's Incredible!" 8pm: Monday Night Football CBS: 7pm: "Private Benjamin" 7:30: "Two of Us" 8pm: "M*A*S*H" 8:30: "House Calls" 9pm: "Lou Grant" NBC: 7pm: "Little House on the Prairie" 8pm: Monday Night Movie TUESDAY ABC: 7pm: "Happy Days" 7:30: "Laverne & Shirley" 8pm: "Three's Company" 8:30: "Too Close for Comfort" 9pm: "Hart to Hart" CBS: 7pm: "Simon & Simon" 8pm: Tuesday Night Movie NBC: 7pm: "Father Murphy" 8pm: "Bret Maverick" 9pm: "Flamingo Road" WEDNESDAY ABC: 7pm: "The Greatest America Hero" 8pm: "The Fall Guy" 9pm: "Dynasty" CBS: 7pm: "Mr. Merlin" 7:30: "WKRP in Cincinnatti" 8pm: "Nurse" 9pm: "Shannon" NBC: 7pm: "Real People" 8pm: "The Facts of Life" 8:30: "Love, Sidney" 9pm: "Quincy ME" THURSDAY ABC: 7pm: "Mork & Mindy" 7:30: "Best of the West" 8pm: "Barney Miller" 8:30: "Taxi" 9pm: "20/20" CBS: 7pm: "Magnum PI" 8pm: "Knots Landing" 9pm: "Jessica Novak" NBC: 7pm: "Harper Valley PTA" 7:30: "Lewis and Clark" 9pm: "Diff'rent Strokes" 8:30: "Gimme a Break!" 9pm: "Hill Street Blues" FRIDAY ABC: 7pm: "Benson" 7:30: "Bosom Buddies" 8pm: "Darkroom" 9pm: "Strikeforce" CBS: 7pm: "The Incredible Hulk" 8pm: "The Dukes of Hazzard" 9pm: "Dallas" NBC: 7pm: "NBC Magazine" 8pm: "McClain's Law" 9pm: "Specials" SATURDAY ABC: 7pm: "Maggie" 7:30: "It's a Living" 8pm: "The Love Boat" 9pm: "Fantasy Island" CBS: 7pm: "Walt Disney Presents..." 8pm: Saturday Night Movie NBC: 7pm: "Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters" 8pm: "Nashville Place" 9pm: "Fitz and Bones" Now of the networks did that for say, the whole month of July, what kind of ratings do you think they would get? Would you watch the shows? I for one, know that it wouldn't do too well in the ratings. I'd love it to death, but I doubt it would be highly rated. I'd love some of the nights, especially CBS's Friday, ABC's Tuesday, CBS's Thursday, and ABC's Wednesday...NBC's Tuesday too |

If they COULD do this, and the fact is, it is impossible, then it would score moderate ratings. They are the networks, people do need something to watch. However, only a small fraction of these actually belong to the networks anymore; they would have to be extremely large amounts of money to lease these, and they wouldn't be getting enough money IN to even break even....

It might do decent if a cable network like Trio were to do that but I don't think that the networks would even think about it but as I said, Trio could (and should) do something like that.
