This may already be a thread, but since I lol am not going to look through every thread on this board I'll just post it again. I have a question for everyone, Do you think that the show would have lasted as long as it did if Diane had stayed the whole time?

IMO it wouldn't have. I don't think that the writers could have kept thinking of new stories for 6 more years, I mean as it was the plots were a lot alike to begin with, Sam and Diane get together, and then they break up because of a fight over something stupid, and you know the rest. Anyway the show could only have gone so far, they would have gotten married and had kids, but I don't know if it could have lasted for 6 more years.

I don't think it would have lasted 11 years, the fact that they changed female roles gave them an entire new show to work with. I think it would have still been a good show, maybe last 9 or 8 seasons instead of 11. To a certain extent I like the fact that Shelley left (even though Diane is my favorite character) because if it hadn't happened the writers would have never written Rebecaa....I thought it would have been MORE interesting to have Rebecca and Diane working in the bar together......

I dunno mabey it would work them working together I mean. It would cause problems for Sam.
