Yesterday, I was reading the "Jump The Shark" section on "The Flying Nun". Once I got past the cruel and mean-spirited comments regarding Sally Field and the show itself, which I feel are completely unfounded and undeserved, I read where several people recalled a particular episode where Sister Bertrille, along with a group of children that she is teaching, performs
" a 'Sound of Music' type song about ... chopsticks in a Chinese restaurant. That same episode is notable for a scene when Sister Bertrille screens home movies of herself as a teen before she decided to become a nun and for 5 minutes, we see scenes and highlights from Field's previous series, 'Gidget'". (Quotes taken from website) Now does anyone know what episode this is from and what season it ran? I'd love to watch it before CTS pulls the plug on the show Sept. 1. Thank you. |

Pamelyn Ferdin, who played the would-be Sister Shapiro, is writing her memoirs and should have something to say about this episode and the other from this series in which she appeared.
I also have several questions about episodes in this series. 1. Were there any episodes in which Sally Field did not appear at all, or so little that her role in them is cut out in reruns? I saw one last night in which positively no one flew, and I would swear Sally Field did not appear at all. Eric Shea played a boy named Joseph. How many episodes are like this? 2. Was it ever explained how so many white, English-speaking people ended up in Puerto Rico? I guess Eric Shea was supposed to be an orphan whose parents died and just left him stranded there, and it is a U. S. territory, but really how likely is this? More likely than nuns flying it would seem. |
