Default Anybody think Martin was a little TOO NERDY?

Martin was just a nerdy dresser, he walked in a nerdy way, his haircut was geeky. Couldn't the producers have found a better guy for Denise?-LOL Martin was NOT the one-LOL

well, he was navy and navy men are very smart people, so they might ahve wanted someone who looked a little on the geeky side becusae maybe they wanted Martins character to be that way.

I thought Joseph C. Phillips did a good job portraying Martin. He was very convincing as someone in the Navy.

He was a pretty good actor. I agree with fear the mullet that he was supposed to be like that. He was cool.

Solomon u should've seen him in the movie Strictly Business with Halle Berry & Tommy Davidson. He was really acting nerdy in that movie. If u haven't seen that movie, go rent it. It's very good & Halle looks fine as hell in that movie. She was much younger back then. Him & Halle hook up in the movie & become a couple but the way he got at her was so funny.

Remember when Tommy Davidson took him to a club to meet Halle a 2nd time & she was sitting with those black dudes who owned a bank? He was like hey home dudes, what's going on LOL. In another scene Tommy Davidson said to him man it's not gonna kill u if u stay out past 10:00 LOL. Tommy said man u going out like that & Joseph said as a matter of fact we're staying in LOL. Tommy was like man that's not what i meant.

haha I have thought about this before! Denise's character, when she comes back on the show, goes way out in left field, and then they use Martin to complement her? It really doesn't make much sense. The navy spin was keeping with Bill Cosby, and his classiness, having a strong, educated, good man with his daughter, but Denise is odd and eclectic. A man like Martin would have made more sense with say Sondra, but definitely not Denise! I thought he was a little nerdy too, and boring. Way too much for Denise.

I never liked his character, something about him irked me. Not to mention him and Lisa Bonet had zero chemistry.

I will give him props for the episode when Denise has to find them a place to live, he was funny in that ep.
