Looks like Paul will be going back to becoming a full time Sports Writer and we might see more of Carter:
PRODUCTION HAS BEGUN IN BURBANK ON SECOND SEASON EPISODES OF "8 SIMPLE RULES FOR DATING MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER," AIRING TUESDAYS ON ABC Production has begun in Burbank on second season episodes on Monday (first taping is Friday) of "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter," starring John Ritter ("Three's Company") and Katey Sagal ("Married...with Children") in the 2003 People's Choice Award-winning series for Best New Comedy. The series, about a loving, rational dad who suddenly discovers that his two darling daughters have unexpectedly morphed into hormonally-charged, incomprehensible teenagers, airs TUESDAYS (8:00-8:30 p.m., ET), and will have its season premiere on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, on the ABC Television Network. Since leaving his demanding, on-the-road job as a sports writer and becoming a work-at-home Lifestyle columnist in order for wife Cate (Sagal) to return to work as a hospital nurse, Paul Hennessy (Ritter) has helped to make raising the kids a shared experience. But with the success of his book on race-car driver Carter Tibbits, the newspaper offers Paul the opportunity to return full time again as a sports writer. After accepting the position, he and Cate must now both balance their busy work schedules with the responsibility of parenting three teenagers. Paul still fondly remembers the days when his daughters would sit on his lap singing silly songs, and he was their hero for scaring away monsters from under the bed. But those days are long gone. He's a bit rusty on day-to-day interaction and discovers that he's out of touch with his kids - especially his daughters. His value has been reduced to a wallet and a ride to the mall. Oldest daughter Bridget (Kaley Cuoco) has matured into a beautiful and popular teenager, but her exclusive and long distance relationship with her Naval Academy boyfriend has alienated her from her friends at school - and she's finding that her popularity is beginning to slide. By contrast, middle child Kerry (Amy Davidson) is intelligent and cute, but her lack of self-confidence has led her to hide behind a mask of sarcasm. However, she finds herself becoming popular at school just because she's dating Kyle, and this goes against everything she stands for and believes in -- which threatens their relationship. And youngest child Rory (Martin Spanjers), fondly referred to as "The Boy" by Paul and Cate, is beginning to distance himself from them as he enters the world of puberty and discovers one of life's true mysteries -- girls. Though Bridget and Kerry still love their father, Paul has to come to grips with the fact that he is no longer the most important man in their lives; dating boys and fitting in with their peers are the girls' top priorities. No matter what they do, Paul has one major rule that will never change - "If you make my daughters cry, I'll make you cry." The series, based upon W. Bruce Cameron's best-selling book, "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter," stars John Ritter as Paul Hennessy, Katey Sagal as Cate Hennessy, Kaley Cuoco as Bridget Hennessy, Amy Davidson as Kerry Hennessy and Martin Spanjers as Rory Hennessy. Tracy Gamble ("Home Improvement," "The Golden Girls"), who created the series, also serves as executive producer along with Flody Suarez ("The Tick"), Tom Shadyac ("Bruce Almighty," "Liar Liar," "The Nutty Professor") and Michael Bostick ("Bruce Almighty," "Liar Liar"). The series, which premiered on September 17, 2002 and is filmed before an audience, is from Touchstone Television. It is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format, with 5.1-channel surround sound. |

I have this hunch that with the tables sorta turning and lives getting flipped, season 2 will be definitely better than season 1, i guarantee you.
