Recommend unknown films - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Can everyone post like a list of some films they liked that weren't well known or big name hits- that were more like film festival movies or low profile?

1: Donnie Darko- not many ppl saw this though it was a FOX release- it's complicated, I watched it once- and I'm going to buy it now- one of those addictive, underrated flics.

2: Shock Treatment- Musical that doesn't get much recognition- even from FOX who have failed to release the dvd- overshadowed by it's predecessor 'Rocky Horror'. Completely makes a satire of TV culture- and predicted the reality tv craze.

3: Waking Life- fantastic new-tech rotoscoped animation- filmed real ppl using cameras and colouring the cells- creating a work of 'moving art'. All about someone trying to wake up from dreaming- all the while everyone in his dreams give him their philosophies on life. Really puts you on a philosophical high hours after viewing

4: Dark City: Some compare it to the matrix- but it's entirely different and great. About a man who has his memory replaced- only to find he is part of an alien experiment in a giant spaceship thing- aliens stop time at midnight and change the buildings in the city with amazing telekenesis- while forcing a human doctor to concoct memories to inject into humans. The whole 'city' is in darkness. But this man isn't stopped by the aliens time-freezing, and witnesses what they are doing. Great film

Hello Webuster:

If you are interested in Science Fiction movies, I would recommend watching 2001: A Space Odyssey and Solaris (the original 1971 Russian film). There are similarities and opposites to these two movies-you will be asking yourself all kinds of questions. If you don't mind long movies and good stories, then I think you will enjoy watching both of these films.

The Seven Samurai: it is a Japanese film, from the respected film maker Akira Kurasawa

Kukujiro- It's about a Japanese boy who befriends an old tough guy and they both set out to find the boy's mother who the boy never met before...very good

Hard Boiled- Chow Yun Fat...John Woo...Enough Said! Great action pic!

yes the Seven Samurai is one of the greatest films of all time, it's not that well known in the USA and other countries, but over in japan its one of the most well known films. Akira Kurosawa inspired great directors and writers such as George Lucas and Francis Ford Coppola

this is a virtuallay unknown mega violent asian movie, its extremely entertaining, but its not for the stomachy

Planet Of (The) Dinosaurs- cheesy late 70s time warp dinosaur flick with great stop motion effects for it's time. unlike other similar movies from the same time with horrible effects such as The Day Time Ended...
