The death of centenarian comedian and film icon Bob Hope, announced Monday, gave rise to cable-network tribute programming.

A&E Network said it would air a two-hour Biography, produced by daughter Linda Hope, Monday at 8 p.m. EST and PST.

AMC said it would air its 1998 one-hour special, Bob Hope: The Road to the Top, Thursday morning at 7:10 EST and PST, followed by six Hope movies: How to Commit Marriage (1969) at 8:10 a.m., Paris Holiday (1957) at 10:05 a.m., Road to Bali (1953) at 12:15 p.m., The Seven Little Foys (1955) at 2:10 p.m., Son of Paleface (1952) at 4:05 p.m. and The Private Navy of Sgt. O’Farrell (1968) at 6:05 p.m.

Turner Classic Movies announced a five-movie tribute slate of 1960s Hope flicks to air Thursday: The Road to Hong Kong (1962) at 11 a.m., A Global Affair (1964) at 1 p.m., Call Me Bwana (1963) at 2:30 p.m., I’ll Take Sweden (1965) at 4:15 p.m. and Bachelor in Paradise (1961) at 6 p.m.

The passing of Bob Hope had broadcast and cable networks scrambling to pay tribute to the showbiz legend.
CBS immediately scheduled a special Dan Rather-anchored, half-hour edition of "48 Hours" that kicked off primetime Monday, while ABC slotted a Hope-themed half-hour "Nightline" in the news skein's normal latenight slot.

NBC -- Hope's home for more than 50 years -- was curiously low-key about its homage. As of early Monday evening, the Peacock planned to air a two-minute tribute to the late comedian in the 8 p.m. hour, repeating it again later in the night. It decided against rebroadcasting its Emmy-nommed spec "100 Years of Hope and Humor" on the network, instead choosing to air the spec on Peacock-owned Bravo.

"We celebrated 100 years of Bob Hope's life and comedy in April, and again in May with two two-hour specials," a Peacock spokeswoman said.

Cable news nets offered plenty of Hope coverage, with CNN's "Larry King Live" devoting its entire hour Monday to a star-studded tribute. A slew of other specials and marathons have been slated, including:

Turner Classic Movies has skedded a five-pic Hope film festival for Thursday, starting at 11 a.m. with "The Road to Hong Kong."

A&E rebroadcast Monday its 2-hour "Biography" on Hope; further rebroadcasts seem likely.

Saturday at 7 p.m. KCET will repeat the June spec "Bob Hope: The Road to Laughter," an hourlong doc focusing on the thesp's series of "Road" pics.
