Has anyone ever mistaken your identity for a BTVS character/actor? The thought is so funny, it probably never even entered your mind. It never entered mine.
Yesterday morning, I was watching Buffy (the ep where Buffy's Mom leads a protest against all witches and the local parents try to burn Willow, Buffy, and Amy at the stake) with one of the girls I watch (she's 12). We were at the part where Buffy, Willow, and Amy almost become ashes, when this girl shrieks and asks pleadingly, "Are they going to die?" Then in a few nanoseconds, says, "They must not, because you're still here, so if you're okay, they're okay, right?" I could only get out a ,"huh?" So as she busily explains, the thought flashes through my mind, "Oh Gawd, this girl thinks I'm Willow. Now how did THAT happen? Only thing we share in common is red hair. But, of course, I AM the one who brought in the DVD's, so maybe she thinks there's a connection." I set to explaining that, of course, Buffy is a tv show, and the people are actors. The girl looked pretty sheepish, but survived her bubble being popped that her fave show isn't real. That's probably one of the memories that will stick with me for a while. Never would have seen anything like that coming. |
