Hi everyone! I'm nearly emotional about this. I've been a fan for years and other than my Dad I don't really know of many other fans! It's great to find a place like this. I've been meaning to seek out discussion groups on the net for sometime now.
I watched the show when I was just a pre-schooler and even a toddler with my father. But it was the reruns on TBS in the 80's where I really was of age to truly understand and enjoy the show where I saw every episode man times over and became a huge fan. I have to say my favorite years were the 1st through the 3rd seasons. After that there are episodes here and there I do like but overall I felt the show lost it's focus in time. My Dad and I can sit around watch our favorites together and we always end up in tears from the laughter! Literally rolling on the ground trying to catch our breath and wiping our eyes. The first three years of the show is just pure magic. Some of our favorites are Superflyer (could be my all time fav), Presenting the Three Degrees, Watts Side Story, By the Numbers, Whiplash, A House is Not a Poolroom, Happy Birthday Pop. We are huge fans of the episodes with Skillet and Leroy! I have had nearly every episode on tape but recently picked up the complete 1st and 2nd season DVD's. Now, with the forthcoming 3rd season on DVD all my fav's will be complete! I've been perusing the discussions here and have found a lot of answers to many questions and suspicions I have had. Things like what happened to actors, drug use, inconsistencies and consistencies in episodes, etc. I had a suspicion Demond Wilson had a drug problem in the later years but never knew if it was true. Anyhow, what a great place this is!! I'll be hanging around. It's great to be in good company!!! |

Yea its cool for me too because I asked everyone at school if they have ever seen this show and know one has even seen it which is a shame but I could understand because this show was from teh 70's but the true fans know what I am talkin bout and my generation wouldnt know much bout it but I always seen my dad watch it and I caught on it and never got off loving it.. I bought the DVD of the complete 1st season last week and have had a great time watching it and plan on watching some tonight and I also plan to buy the full 2nd season at a later time.. Hope to have great discussions here! Peace and Love!

Hi Skillet. Welcome to the board. I am a confirmed Sanford and Son fan myself there has been no other entertainer quite like Redd Foxx.
I feel as you do that the first 3 seasons were the best of the show. Heads up, tvland edits out certain things when they show reruns. i have a lot of fav episodes but one that I can watch over and over again that always makes me laugh is "A Guest in the Yard" the episode where Fred and Lamont find the bum in their yard. That episode has a lot of great lines. Do you like that one too? have fun and have a good day sylvia |

First off,welcome to the boards,Skillet.
I used to watch Sanford and Son reruns when I came home from school when it was in the afternoons at 4:30 back in the early 80's in San Antonio and when we got cable,I always watched the TBS reruns. I have not seen the show since they had a brief stint on Nick at Nite in 1999 and these episodes were edited. But I do have the whole Columbia House Video collection of Sanford and Son and both the 1st and 2nd season DVD's of Sanford and Son. I can't wait until October 7th when the 3rd season DVD comes out as well. My favorite all-time episode is Superflyer as well. Have you seen the episode from the 1st season "The Piano Movers" where they try and get that piano from that guy and they had to wear slippers because he didn't nobody with shoes to walk on his antique rugs???That episode cracks me up!!! I liked it when the guy asked what size shoe he wore and then Fred tells him, "I wear a 10,what are we going to do,dance???" And then with the chair, the guy tells him that it was a Chipendale, not for sitting. Then Fred says,"You oughta to get a Sears and Roebuck, they're made for sittin'. I liked it when Fred said that this was a nice apartment and he wondered how much the rent was and Lamont told him that Fred couldn't afford it and Fred told him,"Supreme Court says I can live anywhere I want to" and Lamont tells him,"You better get the Supreme Court to help pay your rent." I also liked it when they get the piano edged against the doorway and Lamont tells Fred what goes in comes out and what comes out goes in,that's the first rule of physics. And then they couldn't pull it through the doorway Fred says,"And the second rule of physics is stuck". Again, that episode always cracks me up
