Default The New Odd Couple?

I am curious if anybody out there has seen the New Odd Couple with Demond Wilson
(Lamont from Sanford and Son) and Ron Glass (Det. Harris of Barney Miller)
Was it as bad as people said it was?

Post New Odd Couple

I've seen it, and it wasn't that it was bad, it was that they recycled the scripts from the original Odd Couple for 8 of the 13 episodes. By the time the came up with new plots, people didn't care, and the show was cancelled.

It was terrible but I've never liked the Odd Couple to begin with.

I'd like to see it, but the chances of anyone showing it are pretty much nil.

Tvland aired it about 3 years or so ago.

Post Where to find TNOC

You might search on eBay if you are really interested in it. Look for the later episodes (9-13) as the first eight use recycled scripts from the original Odd Couple.

It was unreal how they copied the original "Odd Couple" shows word for word. The IRS episode comes to mind. What was the purpose of copying something that was genius to begin with and then ruined by them???

Well, at the time, I believe the show writers were on strike. The later episodes did use new plots, but it was too late to salvage the show.

While it was good to see Demond Wilson play a character different from grumpy Lamont, a remake of such a classic show like "Odd Couple" was not a good idea.

I saw it when it debuted on network TV, I hated it. Wilson and Glass are no Klugman and Randall.
