Red face Who was Deborah Gibson...before "American Juniors"?

On another thread, titled "25 worst videos", it mentuioned Deborah Gibson. Was she a pop diva.

I want to know some facts and pics of her.

(No, I won't laugh...I'm a fan of '60's, '70's, and '80's pop culture)

She was a late '80s teenybopper pop star.

Cool. What songs did she sang?

I like Mandy Moore.
Would I like Debbie Gibson?

Was she a cutie?

BTW, I like Madonna and The Go Go's.
Mostly new wave artists like The Cure, Ministry, XTC, The Smiths, Cocteau Twins, Devo, Talking Heads, Depeche Mode, Violent Femmes, etc.

As Brittany Murphy said, "I'll Never Tell".

And I just wanna know about Deborah Gibson...before "American Juniors".

Was Ryan Seacrest a pop star too?

LOL... you guys are funny, how can you guys not know who Deborah Gibson was?

In the mid-late '80s, Deborah, formerly known as, Debbie Gibson used to be a big pop star, almost as famous as Britney is. She had several hit songs such as, "Electric Youth," "Shake Your Love," and "Only In My Dreams"- or something like that. She was very known for taking chances by writing, and producing all of her music, which was VERY rare in the 80's when everything was manufactured.

She was always compared to Tiffany, which was another big pop star. It's almost like what Christina and Britney did in the late '90s.

Like Christina, and Brit, they also brought lots of imatators with them, such as Samantha Fox and many others.

No, Ryan Seacrest is and was NOT a pop star. But he has been a DJ for Star 98.7 here in L.A. since the mid-90's. Before American Idol he was a regular guest host for Good Day Live (which he occasionally still does,) and the KTLA Morning News.

BTW, just in case you didn't know, Paula Abdul was a HUGE pop star in the 80's early 90's.

wow, you guys! Debrah Gibson (AKA Debbie Gibson) was one of my favorite singers back in the 80's when I was little. "Electric Youth" was my FAVORITE song for a while. I think I was in 1st or 2nd grade at the time....
I'm surprised so many people don't know of her...

hehe I liked her too. I remember my brother being about 2 or 3 years old at the time, and every time one of Tiffany's music videos came on, he would start dancing. hehehe

I remember when she came out. I thought she was pretty cool. One of her songs "Foolish Beat" went to #1 making her the youngest person to write and produce a #1 hit. She was 16 or 17 at the time. She was one of the few teen singers who actually had talent.

To SpeedoBoy, Debbie has a Greatest Hits album, and she still records to this day, she put an album out about 2 years ago
