Default The New Doors?

I saw on CNN yesterday Ray Manzarek talking about The New Doors. It includes Ray, Robby Kreiger and Cult's vocalist Ian Astbury. Apparently John Densmore is not taking part in this. They are touring this summer and are planning on releasing a new CD in the future.
I don't know...............I think that they should just let it rest. Being a Doors fan,to me it would be like Ringo and Paul hiring 2 new bandmembers and calling them the New Beatles! What do you guys think? For the band's sake I hope they are successful.Ray and Robby both are very talented musicians and I don't blame them for wanting to try again. But who is this Ian guy? Is he any good?

Yeah, this has been going on for about a year now. Stewart Copeland of the Police was drumming for them for awhile, but he fractured his arm and couldn't play for awhile, so The Doors replaced him, resulting in a lawsuit by Copeland.

John Densmore and the parents of Jim Morrison filed individual lawsuits against the group for using the name "The Doors" in the first place.

The whole thing is awful. I love Stewart Copeland, and I love The Doors as a group, but I've heard them do "Light My Fire" with Astbury on lead vocals. It was horrible.

I think some things are best left in the past.

Ian Astbury is the lead singer of the Cult, one of the most popular alternative rock bands of the 80's. They were most known for albums such as "Love", "Electric," and "Sonic Temple", with hits such as "She Sells Sanctuary," "Rain", "Love Removal Machine", "Wildflower", "Fire Woman," "Sweet Soul Sister", and "Edie (Ciao Baby)," "Sun King" and others. The band was very reminescent of 60's rock bands with a bit of psychedelia and other "retro" rock-isms. Ian Astbury had this dark hippie-biker image, he is a great frontman with a cool voice. He has been compared with Jim Morrison many times. But I don't know, Jim may have inspired many people to be like him vocally and visually, but for him, Ian, to BE a front man obviously influenced by the Doors, I don't know. I think he should stick with the Cult. I heard some of their last album, "Beyond Good and Evil", with a new song, "Rise", and it's great!! In fact, the Cult on their last tour brought a local band from Auburn, WA., my hometown on the national tour, New American Shame. I also saw the Cult open up for Metallica in '89, and I met some guys in Seattle, who were from Vancouver, BC., who thought the Cult were great and could care less about Metallica. When I first heard the Cult, I thought they were the coolest thing around.
