Default To ADW Fans who watched this show during it's Original Run, Did you lose interest in

the show after Lisa Bonet left after season one? I watched this show during it's original run and did not want to follow the show after Denise Huxtable left since the show was based on her character.

Default GOODBYE DENISE

I WAS VERY HAPPY AFTER DENISE HUXTABLE LEFT THE SET OF ADW. THE SHOW NOW COULD EXPLORE MORE OF THE COLLGE LIFE FROM DIFFRENT PERSPECTIVES WITH MORE CHARECTERS OF THE TV SITCOM. THE FIRST SEASON HAPPENS TO BE THE MOST BORING SEASON OF THEM ALL . ANOTHER REASON I LIKE THE SHOW BETTER AFTER LISA BONET LEFT IS THE HISTORY OF HER PAST ACTING CAREER. SHE WAS GIVEN THE SPIN OFF SHOW BECAUSE OF HER TROUBLES WITH HER TV FATHER BILL COSBY.
SO I WAS GLAD WHEN DENISE WENT BYE-BYE.

Yeah, I watched it during its original run. It would've been nice to see Denise stick around a little longer, but I continued watching even after she left the show.

I gotta agree with this. No offense to Lisa Bonet, I liked her back then but I continued to enjoy the show after she left. I thought it was cool seeing the growth of the Whitley character along with the rest of the ensemble. Debbie Allen's creative input I think took an okay show and made it a great show. There was a stretch there where I was definitely more into Different World than Cosby.

Thumbs up

I'll say it again! This show was awful the first season! It was totally unrealistic. The show was based on college life with Denise being the lead character. But after she lefted (glady) and Debbie Allen took over the directing the show IMO is one of the best black sitcom of it's era. Since Debbie actually went to a black college she nailed the whole vibe of black college life where as in the first season you could tell it was written and directed by whites in that can stereotypical way with Denise being the good girl, Whitley being the enemy of Denise, Dwayne and Ron being goofy nerds, with a token white person thrown in. Afterwards the show and the characters evolved and new interesting characters were added with storylines to let you know who these new characters were. Excellent Show!!!!

That is how I feel. I would have loved for Lisa to have stuck around. I was disappointed when she left. I still watched. The show was still good after she had left.

I still liked the show when Denise left, but my favorite season is the first season with Denise.
