Default Am I mistaken, or...?

Was Dorothy Lyman on the production team of "The Nanny"? I saw her name in the credits several times, just wondering if it's the same Dorothy Lyman...?

Yep you're right. She directed and produced many of the episodes of "The Nanny." She even guess starred a couple times.

Didn't she also play Kate's drunken sister on an episode of ALF?

Yep, she was on ALF but as Kate's alcoholic college friend, not sister. At first when I saw that episode I stared at her for like 5 minutes trying to place who it was before it hit me...Naomi!!!

Ms. Lyman also had a reoccuring role during the last two seasons of "Life Goes On." She looked quite a bit different than she did on Mama's Family, even though she was on Life Goes on only a couple years after Mama's Family ended. Obviously she didn't have a wig then, but it was something else too--maybe she aged more quickly...? Anyhoo, it was cool having her on another one of my favorite shows!

Yeah, I always thought she had a wig. On the NBC eps of MF, you can see where her wig begins - at the barettes in her hair. I saw an episode where it looked like her wig was just about to fall off.

Hey, I just Googled Dorothy and found this screencap from The Nanny:

and this:

This is one of the few pics they have of her -

Oh gosh, I wonder what episode that was where her wig was about to fall off! LOL. I was so goofy... it took me a while after watching the show to realize she had fake hair in the NBC years. I guess she was on a soap opera at the time where her hair was curly on that show, so that's why she had straight hair during the NBC years. I dunno... that's just what I heard on here before. I liked her hair better straight compared to her hair in the syndication years though.

That's neat those pictures that you found. I used to watch that show, I remember seeing her on there.

I can't remember which episode it was, either. I just remember it was when she was standing in the kitchen at one point.

Yes, Dorothy looks very different without her big hair wig. Her real hair looks quite thin and fine.

But she still has the same awesome body she had while on MF! Especially those shoulders - I grew to be very familiar with her shoulders wihle she was still on MF.

LOL. I'm a girl, so I wonder what my excuse is. I really didn't know it was a wig until maybe last year, and I've been watching this show since it originally aired! Granted, I was only 2 years old, but still I should have picked up on it sooner with all the years of reruns there's been!

At least I always knew Carol Burnett was wearing a wig as Eunice.

What about when she appeared in the sequel to "A Christmas Story," titled "Ollie Hoopnadolls Heaven of Bliss." She played Ralphie's mom, and the dad from Doogie Howser played the Old Man.

Not as good as ACS, but pretty funny...

Wish I had a screen cap...
