This may seem like a stupid, trivial question, but it's always bugged since I've been watching "WINGS":
I'm not familiar with the operation and hours of small airlines like Sandpiper and Aeromass, but does anyone know the hours of these companies operation? It gets very confusing when you watch various "WINGS" episodes.....Sometimes it seems like both companies fly "Red Eye" flights and work well into the night. Other times it seems like the companies work "9 to 5" hours, and there's a point where everyone closes up shop and goes home, like in a business office. Also, there are times when it seems like weekends are the busiest times for both companies, and the thought of taking time off on a weekend is unheard of....then there are other times when just about EVERYONE working at these airline companies goes on some weekend trip. I know that this is a fictitious sitcom, and there's plenty of room for "flex time" in these episodes, but have they ever given any kind of indication of what kind of hours these small airline companies operate? |

I've noticed that too. I think Roy has more pilots and planes and therefore, he can remain open, even if he's not at the airport. Sandpiper probably just closes when it needs to. No wonder Aeromass is the better airline
Would you like to fly an airline that's closed half the time?

yeah, maybe since Sandpiper is a smaller airline, sometimes they don't have any passengers on some of their regular-scheduled flights, so sometimes they can just cancel those flights and go home early... now that I think of it, I think they've said that before.

Yep, I think you are right Krista. (PS can I have another cookie?)
I always figured as a small one airplane outfit that they had a limited schedule as it was, and then on many days they just didn't have any passengers or cargo to move on a selected flight so they could just go home and close shop. I always thought it was funny how they could fly to Boston on a moments notice whenever they wanted to, like when Casey wanted to go to Boston to track down her ex-husband. I guess they were rolling in so much money that Joe wasn't concerned about fuel expenses.

Yeah, sometimes it seems tv characters never work or they have kids but never have to take care of them!
![]() Actually, I was looking at the real airline Cape Air, they pretty much have their first flight at 7:30am and then arrive have their last flight leave at 9:00pm. But with Sandpiper, sometimes they didn't have any flights booked at all, and they could just close. Also, on Nantucket the big difference is what month it is. In the summer they're really busy... and when I'm watching Wings I never quite know what month it's supposed to be. Oh well... Love, Wing<>< |
