Default Last Night's "Viewer Appreciation" Block

I videotaped last night's block and I haven't watched it yet, but I DID catch the first episode ("Maybe It's You" with Jenny McCarthy), and I "spot checked" the 3-part "Wingless" story line (when the Hackett brothers lose control of Sandpiper).

"Maybe It's You" was a rather strange episode. Brian kept going on and on about how he is waiting to sleep with Dani until he gets to know her better, and says to Joe, "I've NEVER done this before!"....What about when he was dating ALEX? This is an example of how some of those 7th and 8th season shows seem to suffer from temporary amnesia!

While I haven't watched the 3-parter, I did check out parts of it on the tape, and from what I can see it looks like an interesting story line. I give the "Wings" people credit for taking on an ambitious 3-part story during the final season when they could have just coasted to the finish line with simple one-episode plots.

These are just my preliminary thoughts on last night's batch of "Wings" episodes...I'm sure that I'll have more thoughts as I watch the shows in their entirety.

I've watched the first 3 episodes of last nights block so far. I haven't seen any of the epiosodes from season 8 since they were on NBC so this is kind of cool.

I liked the first episode "Maybe It's You" where Brian is depressed about still being a single man. When he poses as "Single Man" that cracked me up!

But I loved the next two episodes, "Single and Hating It" and "Too Beautiful For You". Like I said, I hadn't seen these episodes in a long time and I had forgotten how much I liked them.

Both episodes had lots of great stuff with Antonio. He made me laugh at the single mixer, but he was even better when he started dating Elise in the next episode.

And EVERYTHING about the food cart was great!

I was laughing out loud at just about everything...from everbody's reaction to the food, to Joe....to Helen....this was Wings at its best to me!

Yes, this is the amazing thing about seasons 7 and 8....There will be periods of dull, depressing or far-fetched episodes, and you think to yourself, "Well, that's THAT...It's over....the rest of the run is going to be TERRIBLE!"...and then suddenly you'll be seeing some truly BRILLIANT stretches of hilarious, well-written and well-acted comedy, and you say to yourself, "Hey, this is just like the OLD DAYS of "Wings"!

From what I've been seeing in these later episodes, I don't see "Wings" becoming out-and-out BAD....it just has bad MOMENTS, but there's still plenty of gold there!

I watched the first 2 episodes so far. They both were pretty funny.

Haha that was Jenny McCarthy in that first one. lol she's crazy.
"OH MY GOD THEY HAVE BREADSTICKS! I LOVE BREADSTICKS!!" haha. Parts of that episode were kind of stupid but it had a lot of funny parts.
oh, I was cracking up at how much Joe was freaking out that he didnt get the invitation to his friend's wedding. I laughed out loud when he said "At the Hoover Dam, we smoked a doobie together and couldn't feel our legs!" lol. ..somehow, I can't picture Joe ever smoking weed.. hmm.... that's a pretty amusing thing to think about tho. hahaha

and the second episode was pretty funny too at the singles mixer. Brian was annoying tho when he was trying to get that bartender to go out with him. lol. Antonio was funny in that one. I was laughing when he went up to that really tall girl and called her a "tall drink of water". haha I was thinking, "oh Antonio, us tall girls don't like being called that." lol. Well, I'm not as tall as she is (she had to be about 6'4"!) I'm almost 6'. But yeah I've heard them all. One of my friends' dad used to call me a 'tall drink of water' all the time. It was annoying. lol. and then someone else used to call me "Long, Tall Sally". It's like, "yes, I know I'm abnormaly tall. so you don't have to keep reminding me of it every day." lol. ok, I'll stop rambling. i just thought it was funny when Antonio said that to her, and she called him a creep or something like that. lol! ha!
But anyway, yeah, It was a pretty funny episode...

I've watched a couple more episodes of the block, "The Gift of Life" and "Olive or Twist" and boy what a perfect example of how you have your peaks and valleys, because I didn't like either of these episodes much.

There is always a line or two in every Wings episode that will make me smile or laugh, but overall these episodes didn't do much for me. But I still have the 3 story arc Wingless episodes to watch. I do remember the Wingless story line a little bit and remember laughing at most of it. I especially remember a thing called "the big ugly" that was funny to me. I'll have to jog my memory a bit more and watch those episodes next.

I'm in the middle of watching The Gift of Life. TV Shows have the best Halloween costumes(sans Joe's!!). If anybody ever watched the earlier episodes of Roseanne, I have to admit they had the best Halloween episodes with the best costumes. I thought Antonio's costume was cute, and I also liked Brian's man/woman 'split' personality. I think there was a part cut out, in fact I'm sure of it. When Casey was showing off her costume, I think there was a part cut out of her explaining what it was. She wasn't just a regular cheerleader. Looked like she was a murdered cheerleader because of her left shoulder. Her sweater looked shredded.

Maybe It's You-I thought the part where Brian was imitating Dani to Joe was funny. Was it me, though, but did the restaurant scene run a little long?
Single and Hating It-it had it's moments. Fay as a brunette, Roy thinking Joe & Helen were swingers and giving them a phone number for just such a thing. That's so Roy.
Too Beautiful for You-Now why didn't the writers kind of keep the Elise storyline going? Even if she couldn't be on every episode, at least they could've had him mention her a few times. I guess they thought it was funny to have Antonio continue with his love life woes.

I've also watched "Too Beautiful For You" which I thought was boring.
and then I watched "The Gift Of Life" which was also pretty boring. Well, I loved everyone's Halloween costumes. I laughed soooo hard when Joe came in whith his costume. hahahahaha! oh man.
Oh, and when Casey started acting all ditsy when those guys invited her to a college party- that was pretty funny. That party annoyed me tho. I mean, I haven't been to many (ok, any) college parties, but I know they're not like that. That looked more like a "wild" party a 16-year-old would throw when their parents are out of town or something...
lol anyway...

both episodes had their funny parts, but overall, they were kinda boring.

and then last night (saturday night) I watched the episode that was on- "Let's Talk About Sex". That one was good. It was pretty funny, and I liked it a lot more than the other two episodes I just talked about.

I missed last night's episode!! I actually went to bed earlier than usual and the VCR didn't tape.

I jumped the gun when I was talking about Casey's costume. I hadn't gotten to that part yet where she explained what she was. I just figured N@N cut it out. I wouldn't have put it past them.

last night I watched "Olive Or Twist". Wasn't a bad episode. I was laughing so hard at Helen and Joe drunk. hahahaha! They were sooo funny! I loved when Helen was going on about riding on an elephant, and then she says that the people would say "look- there's princess Helen and her elephelllelllnn.." hahahaha or whatever the hell she said.
and Joe going on about how Brian should have bought a hat. hahaha. and then Helen puts the martini glass on her head and says. "look Joe. I have a hat." and he looks and says in a drunken slur, "that's pretty." the way he said that was so funny. haha!
that scene there was so funny. and then when they went to walk away and they both fell on the floor behind the counter-
I had to rewind and watch that scene again because it made me laugh so much. hehe.

and I also watched "Wingless" part 1. I thought that was a really good episode. i can't really remember many specifics of it at the moment. just that it was good. hehe

and then I watched last night's episode- "Just Call Me Angel". That one wasn't one of the best, but it wasn't bad. It had some funny parts.

I noticed they skipped over the episode "Hosed" (the one when Joe buys a vacuum cleaner from a salesman, and then practically falls in love with it. lol). They showed that one during the marathon. I remember that being one of the first episodes I ever saw when I was watching that marathon... at the time I thought it was a boring episode, but I would have liked to see it again, because I bet I'd think it was pretty funny now that I'm into the show and know the characters and stuff. haha. Joe being obsessed with a vacuum is so Joe. haha!

I watched "Just Call Me Angel" last night, and call me 'Short-term memory goddess', but I don't remember that episode. I also don't really remember the 2nd part of 'Wingless', because I know I would've remembered the whole scene with the Todds. I thought I've seen them all!!! I just have one question(and I know it's only a show), but what was STEVE YOUNG doing sitting in coach?!! Guess 1st class was all full!!HA!

I loved that running gag about Joe's new "Men's Travel Case"....people kept calling it a "makeup case", "purse", etc....Joe's reactions to other people's reactions were VERY funny: "It's not a PURSE...It's a MEN'S TRAVEL CASE!!!!"

I'm really surprised that NICK showed "Hosed" during the opening marathon, since that has the reputation of being one of the the all-time WORST "Wings" episodes EVER! I haven't actually seen it, but from what I've heard and read about it, that episode (as Roy Biggins would say) "Stinks on ice!"

On Saturday, the listings on my digital cable said that "All I Want for Christmas", the Christmas episode where Helen, Fay, and Casey end up locked in the basement of a department store on Christmas Eve, was supposed to be on. I wonder if there's any chance that N@N skipped this and "Hosed" so they could air the 2-part finale. Probably not, but N@N does frequently make last-minute changes.

hehehe you know what I just realized while I was watching "Lord Of The Rings"??
You know in that episode of Wings "Olive Or Twist" when Casey and Brian were in that dude's house- the one who fell on the floor in Brian's club- and Casey looked in the viewfinder thing and she screamed.? Well, I just realized that she totally sounded like one of those Ringwraiths from the Lord Of The Rings movies (you know, the not-living, not-dead dudes on the scary horses who let out that horrible scream). yeah, I was watching the movie, and they made that screaming noise, and I was like, "woa crap. its Casey." hahaha
