Default "....Like A Neighbor Scorned"

Wow, what a WILD episode THIS was! Steven and Barbara were SO weird...and I thought that SANDY COOPER was nuts! (Of course, Chris Elliott's specialty is playing weird, left-of-center characters anyway).

I loved Brian's "Neighbor Greeting" (sort of a mumbled snarl and sideways wave).

After the Hackett's first night with Steven and Barbara, Brian asks Joe "So how did things go with Fred and Ethel?". The funny part is that after Joe and Helen's wedding, Brian and Casey sort of BECAME the "Fred and Ethel Mertz" of the show....the "wacky couple" who popped in with wisecracks, petty bickering and were confidantes of the "main" couple!

This is one of my least favorite episodes. I thought the wacky neighbors were just too weird. It didn't seem like early Wings at all.

The only thing I liked about this episode was Chris Elliott. Of course, he would go on to co-star with Steven Weber in the 2000-2001 sitcom "Cursed" later retitled "The Weber Show."

I actually liked this episode. Especially when Helen and Barbara are having a drink and snack together and Barbara lifts up her shirt and asks Helen if she thinks her breasts are too small. I think it's so funny when Helen spits out her drink and the look on her face is priceless. Also when Joe and Helen are being so nice to the neighbors at the end of the episode and are bribing them because they think they might be dangerous and they're stuck living next to them, only to find out that they only rented the place for the month and were leaving the next day. It's not as good as early Wings but I thought it was one of the better episodes of the final season.

What really cracked me up was Helen's reaction....she sat there with her legs crossed, her head down and her hand over her eyes as she said, "OK, you can cover those babies up now!"

Geez, I really hate that split screen crap N@N is doing at the end of Wings. From what I could get from Sun.nights episode in the closing credits, Joe & Helen got new neighbors, the new neighbors came over to say Hello with a bottle of wine, Helen then slammed the door on them before they could even get a word in edgewise. Then Joe says something to her, I guess something like "That's not how you treat our new neighbors" and she opens the door again and grabs the wine out of their hands. Like when they split the dance sequence with Roy & Antonio. Although there was no dialogue, just that it was split is why it sucked.

Now N@N showed Porno for Pyros last Sat. night and Like A Neighbor Scorned on Sun.night. Did anybody else notice that between Sat. night's ep and Sun.night's ep, Joe got his hair cut real short and Helen got her hair cut, too and it was blonder? I thought that was unusual because you would think that the Wings 'people' would've had Tim & Crystal get that new look to start off a new season, not wait until after the 1st show. Just another silly thing I noticed.

It's possible that "Porno For Pryos" was filmed immediately after (or shortly after) the previous season's finale episode (where Joe and Helen set fire to Brian and Stacy's house).
Remember that the 8th season opener was supposed to take place IMMEDIATELY after the 7th season finale (actually around the same time).

As a side note, I can't believe how much Crystal Bernard changed during the eight seasons of "Wings". I didn't really notice it as I was watching the progessive episodes, but when you look at photos of Crystal/Helen from the series' first seasons...WOW, what a difference (curly, darker hair, more boyish clothes, less makeup, etc.).

I thought Helen looked her best in the 8th season. It's amazing, almost every cast member has had different looks throughout the eight seasons, except for Roy. He never changed his features. Antonio didn't change his hair, but I think he dressed differently from when he first came on.

Throughout the eight seasons? There were times when Joe, Brian and Lowell had different looks from week to week! (When those boys needed a haircut, they REALLY needed a haircut!).

And as for Roy not changing his look, all I can say about THAT is that once you've perfected a classic style, you STICK with it!

My Crystal looked incredible every year!!

It is interesting to see how actors change over the years in terms of hair styles and dress styles but I really did like the way Helen/Crystal dressed and appeared throughout the series. I can't help it, she can do no wrong in my eyes. lol

I always thought Joe and Brian looked better with the longer hair, but I'm a guy so what do I know???

hehe well,
Joe's hair always looked great except for the first half of season 6, i think it was.- it was too long. and then season 8, it was cut real short! nooo! his beautiful hair- hacked off!
and I always thought Brian looked better with short hair...

oh, and I finally watched this episode last night... I thought it was hilarious! Those people were crazy. hahahaha. and for some reason I can't remember any specific parts that were funny. Well, just the one you guys mentioned- Helen's reaction when Barbara lifted up her shirt and asked her if she thought her breasts were small. hahahaha!
But yeah, I thought that one was funny. That Steve guy was funny when he was freaking out in Joe's office. lol.
OH!! And they used the word "poo" 3 times in that episode! hehehehe

and I also watched "Grouses, Houses and Bickering Spouses " the other night, and I haven't talked about that one yet. I thought that one was really funny too. Joe was so funny at the beginning when he was being all anal with his annoying color-coded, organizational marker board. hahahaha. I'm glad Helen messed it up and wrote "this board bites" on it. hehe I loved how Joe freaked out about that.
The part when they met that couple who wanted to buy their property, and the guy goes, "I just have one question.." and Joe spazzes out and slams his fist on the desk and yells "damn!!!" haha that was funny. So then the guy asks about the sinkhole, and Helen was trying to explain what it was, and Joe's sitting there doing hand motions to go along with what Helen was saying. hehe.
oh! and then when Joe signaled for Roy and Fay to come in and act as if they were a couple who wanted to buy the house, they were so funny. I loved when Roy goes, "we have a baby on the way too." hahaha! I loved the audience's reaction to that, and the look on Joe's face. lol.
Antonio was really funny in this episode too. "O! to live in Fay-land!" hehe
But oh, I wanted to kick Joe's ass when he was whining- "But I don't WANNA live there! I wanna live HERE!" that was so annoying,. haha. and then Helen says, "when you talk like that, it makes me want to saw my ears off." lol
But anyway, yeah. I thought that was a good episode. One of my favorites from season 7.

and I probably should have talked about that one in the topic for last week's episodes, but I don't think anyone's reading that thread anymore. lol!

Did you notice Helen during Roy and Faye's "new parent" act? She just closed her eyes, put her head down and held her forehead, like she wanted the floor to open up and swallow her....Helen's "embarrassed" reactions are SO funny!

lol no, I actually didn't notice Helen's reaction to that! I'll have to watch again and look for that. I was looking at Joe's "WTF??!" expression on his face. hahaha.
But yeah- I like her embarrassed reactions too- so funny!
