Default Your Opinion: Overweight Stars

How do you feel about them? Or about any famous person. Does weight bother you? Cuz I'm watching a Full House special thing, and they are talking about Candace Cameron and how people (media) made fun of her weight. The media also poked fun at the FOL girl when they were gaining weight.

Do you think stars HAVE to have a good figure?

No. It sucks because they kind of have this pressure on them to be thin. They also get more crap for it because their stars...it really must suck.

Of course not. They're people too. They're entitled to be as big, small, short, tall as they want to be

Being a bit overweight myself I Know what its like to be criticized because of it. If someone is talented it should matter At ALL. I Guess the role cals for a certain look sometimes but in General No it shouldnt matter.

Yup, I dont think looks do matter. Cuz even though im not overweight, my Mom is a bit overweight, and whenever people criticise fat people negatively, i kinda feel bad.

Thats how it is here, both me and my mom are a little overweight (heck everyone in my family is heavy) But its like a heavy person is less of a human, then a skinny person.

To me it does not matter, as long as they can act.

I think it's better for them to be enormous, and not puke their brains out, than to be skinny and have to puke to stay that skinny. They're role models, so I think they should be bigger, anyway.

It doesn't matter what an actor/actress looks like physically. The only thing that I care about is that they have talent and that they carry themselves with confidence. There are so many beautiful overweight women in Hollywood. Just look at Camryn Manheim and Delta Burke. Beautiful women who are very proud of themselves. I hate it when people criticise those who are overweight. So what if they're not stick thin? They are people who walk, talk, breathe, think, and feel, and they deserve respect. Everyone is different. We all have different hair styles and interests and body figures. As the famous cliche goes, variety is the spice of life. The world would be boring if everyone was the same.

thats exactly how I feel about it. Why should it matter if someone doesnt meet someone else's standards? Its just stupid how people in the world think. It really is and it ticks me off. Now, nobody in the industry really looks at the talent. There are so many talentless people out there who are making tons of money off their looks. Its ridiculous.

No, It doesn't matter. I went to Delta Burke seminar and she talked about this very issue...people can't be perfect, and you shouldn't judge a person only on their weight.

It's unrealistic. I mean...yea...thin stars can be better to look at...but that's not real life. You don't go to the beach and see perfect tanned girls in string bikinis and well-toned guys with perfect hair and smile. The pressure needsta be dropped. However...I hope that they'd WANT to be thin...or at least in shape...so then they can stay healthy and act longer and longer and longer. Freddie Prince Jr. Eh...who cares...let him eat...if we're lucky he'll start feeling old retire soon...

It shouldnt matter as long as they have talent...

but to play devil's advocate here for a minute- even if its not fair, it matters in character roles. I know Ive lost auditions just because I'm not tall or dont have the right "look" for a part- if a part is supposed to be- or even stereotyped to be- thin, small, athletic, etc...it'll matter to whoever is doing the casting.

I don't have a problem with them. It all comes down to one persons opinion really. I personally never thought Candace Cameron was overweight. She was always and still is a very cute girl to me so were the girls on FOL. It's a shame that Hollywood thinks you are unattractive if you don't happen to have a perfect body. It does nothing but ruin these girls' self esteem.
