Most under-rated secondary character - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I know Joe, Brian, and Helen are the lead characters, but I think Antonio deserves to be considered a lead character too. He had some of the funniest lines and moments. I think the show really got good when he joined. Too bad they didn't have him on from the beginning.

I love Lowell, Roy, Fay, and Alex too. They're all great.

i havent watched the show a whole lot but i like the character Antonio the best

I've always loved Antonio, from his first appearance on the show as the waiter, and the way he was treating his Cousin Giacomo. I glad Wings took a chance on his character and gave him a few episodes that just focused on him. I was just watching the episode last night where he was trying to find that woman he met at the airport. 2 lines I thought were funny that he said were towards Joe-"I really wish I could stay and slap you senseless" and "As God as my judge, I'll find her, and if I don't, you're giving me Helen." Too funny. A close second for me is Roy, I don't care what anybody says. I love his sleazy character and I especially love when he disgusts the rest of the gang, but they still make him a part of whatever they're doing.

Of course, I like Lowell & Fay, and even Casey has her moments, but I wouldn't pick Casey as the most under-rated.

Feelings aside & empirically speaking, the show was never the same after Lowell departed. I think that says a lot whether he was one of your favorites or not.

While the show got a boost with Antonio's addition, the show was already well established. With Lowell's absence, there was a noticable change in the dynamics & diologue of the remaining characters since the obvious "foil" character had left.

Recently a lot of message posting has referred to the these after-Lowell seasons about how the characters have seemed to have changed in various ways. I wonder if it wasn't the writers trying to sprinkle a little of Lowell's eccentricities on the remaining cast to get that extra laugh, but in doing so made them a little unrecognizable to us..........just a thought.

I think to some extent that's true, especially with Antonio. He became kind of bitter later episodes. But other characters like Brian and Roy pretty much stayed the same for the whole run. The last two seasons weren't the best, but they're still better than a lot of more recent sitcoms.

i agree wid snoopy i think antonio should be a lead charactor as well.
